so instead of doing my reading/working on one of my research papers yesterday, i went to the most amazing shop and fell in love with the most amazing man named harlod (who is a younger hipper version of daddy bill) and his sales associate sandy who reminds me of denny heck (does she have a younger sister?). i purchased a pink linen dress from the 1930's with emboidered front pockect and sleeves, silver dollar sized mother of pearl bottons and strategically placed pleats. i also got a white slip dress to go underneath and a hat band for a belt. i went in and was blown away by the selection. i wound up talking to these two other designers who were rummaging through and we exchanged information (!!!). when i brought my stuff up to try on, sandy instanted descended upon me, helping me get dresses over my hair and pulling her favorite pieces from the racks for me to try on. heres the amazing thing:everything that i was able to get over my shoulders fit. everything. even the 1920's costume bolero jacket with floor length sleeves, even the victorian wrap skirt, even the drag queen dress with the giant train. i also fell in love with this beaultiful little blue dress from the 20's. the eyelets were perfect, the buttons were perfect, the fit was perfect, but it was $150 and i had fallen in love with the pink dress thinking that it would cost MORE than the blue dress when in fact it was only ten dollars because of a small rip in the sleeve (harold prices clothing once you decide you want it). the slip was also $10 and the belt was $5. and harold and sandy gushed over me and told me to come back. im pushing back my flight so i can go again. oh networking oppurtunities and flattery, you are the best salesmen.
