Our county had a school board meeting tonight.  I attended, but had to leave after the first hour because I'm single-parenting during the weekdays and the kids wanted dinner.  However, I was IMing my Cousin-In-Law and she introduced me to this new thing the kids are calling ' Twitter' and I was able to enjoy the clusterfuck that is a school board ( Read more... )

It's testing time where I live, and for these two weeks grades 3-? have to stop teaching so the state can figure out how we're doing. (Which is kind of funny because next year we have different curriculum and thus different tests, so starting in 2 weeks the kids will be training for that test and we won't be able to really compare the new results ( Read more... )

Yesterday was the first day of school.

And I was late picking the kids up.

Q-10's teacher decided to have the class read My Side of the Mountain as the last book of the year.  Then she went and asked a raptor group to bring in some birds for the kids.  I set her up with the PTSA who paid for it and today was raptor day!
