It was twenty-five days from the twins' first birthday. Slightly coinciding with that was Henry's incredible busyness, making work weeks longer and time off pretty non-existent. Which he was sure Rebecca didn't appreciate, but at least this time around he didn't forgot about intercourse. When the both of them weren't too tired

She looked at Henry and opened her mouth to say something, but the knocking came again so she got up and went to the door.
"Fucking shut up, Jason. You'll wake the girls and everyone else in the neighbourhood." She hissed as she pulled the door open.

He couldn't even ask because she was already gone, and he put the girls back in their beds before finding a robe and his glasses. This man better had a very good excuse to bother them, especially on their weekend off.
"Who is this?" Henry put a hand on Rebecca's shoulder. "And why is he here?" In our lives?

Jason ran a hand through his hair nervously. "You could say I was in the neighbourhood?" He tried and then sighed. "Okay I need some help getting in touch with Marcus."
Rebecca nodded. "You need an out." She said and Jason visibly deflated with relief, nodding.
"I swear I'll be gone in a day. Two at the most." He said, looking between her and Henry.

Was this man seriously implying that he was going to stay here? In there home? "No." He didn't know this man, only knew there was absolutely no good news involved, and wouldn't allow that near his family. "If Rebecca can have stashes, I'm sure you have some financial safety net you can fall back on as well. Get a hotel room."
"He can have breakfast here", he added to Rebecca. "After that I want him out."

Still, Jason was a friend.
"Henry..." She started and Jason interrupted her.
"Look, I know it's not ideal. If I had anywhere else to go, I'd go there, but Becs is pretty much the only person I can trust right now." He said, talking directly to Henry. "If I go out there again, I'll be a corpse by the end of the day."

"Rebecca, we have two eleven month year old daughters. Do you want to get them involved in this? And what will the ne-" Neighbors think.

"He can eat, he can leave. Buy him a ticket, a hotel room, I don't care, but I'm not going to have a time bomb on my door step." He freed his hand from hers, because he knew what she was doing. "I'm thinking about our children."

"Jase...were you followed here?" She asked him.
"I went dark as soon as I hit the coast. No mobile. No cards. I got a ride inland from Leah, and Monty got me to you. If you don't trust either of them, I'll leave." He said and Rebecca scowled.
"Monty got out of the business around the same time I did." She said and turned back to Henry. "He could be a weak link now but I doubt it. Can you give me six hours? I can get Marcus on it and then he'll be gone, I swear."

His hands were itching. "Fine. Fine. Your name is on it as well, after all. But I'm getting the girls and taking them somewhere I don't have to worry about it being a crime scene waiting to happen."
Reply
"Yes Becs." Jason murmured and stepped behind her to pass them both.
When he was gone Rebecca lowered her voice dangerously quiet. "I ask for six hours so I can help my friend and you threaten to take our children away?"
Reply
"For the day, Rebecca. For your six hours if they won't become more. For the risk of having a fugitive here, and not wanting innocents in potential crossfire. For a short period of time, because you promised me so."

She could see his point though. She didn't want the girls or him in any danger and Jason...well, she'd been out of the business for a while. It wasn't like she knew exactly what was likely to be coming their way if Jason hadn't been as circumspect as he claimed.
Setting her jaw, she nodded. "I'll make it four hours." Marcus would probably ask for a favour in return at some point, but he'd do it for her anyway. "Come on. I'll get the girls ready with you."
Reply
"I'll be back here after four hours. Without the girls, of course." He followed her upstairs. "Not bringing them home until I know it's ours again."

She looked Henry. "I know you're mad at me, but he's a friend that's saved my life more than once. I can't say no, Henry."
Reply
"So he risks your life and of three innocents to balance it out. Sounds completely logical, if you would be living in a guerilla society." He picked up Lily and put her down on the dressing table, giving her an Eskimo kiss. "I'm not going to understand your point here, Rebecca. I just hope I can return here with nothing changed."
