Recently, I have read and heard that the world is a play, and everyone is merely an actor. Drawing only on my own experiences, I think this is a good philosophy, since I haven't really felt like myself since I was at MSSM. Getting into the art department should bring the real me out of suppression.
I don't know who the person that was in civil engineering who used my name was, but it was definitely not me. I won't hesitate to say that someone who was with me at MSSM for one year would likely know me better than someone who has been in civil engineering the entire time I was there. It seems like everyone who enters civil engineering needs to conform to certain expectations:
--kissing Bomb Handford's ass
--watching reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger" [which was to be called Chuck Norris]
--playing computer games and watching online videos during lectures [I know these lectures were boring as hell, but still...]
--drinking alarming amounts of Irish car bombs [even if underage]
Anyone who does not meet these expectations gets ostracized.
Is it really worth suppressing, or worse, destroying who you are just to become a faceless hard hat?
