...that, perhaps, aren't as fun as they should be.
1. I've always thought that manga was biased because every time a boy and girl are set to matriculate (especially from junior high school); the boy is usually pegged as the smarter one. He is also usually the one who gives up a chance at a great high school to remain beside the girl he loves. Which has a romantic quality in its own naive way.
The thing is; a boy is the only one foolish/brave enough to do that. A girl would consider it and angst over the separation but in the end her common sense would pull through and she would go the good school. She might do her best to remain in contact with the boy she likes or she might just hope to move on. She wouldn't give up her shot at a great future unless she was the absolute manga heroine and then it wouldn't be worth reading. There are, of course, those girls who will work hard and pull their grades up to get into the same school as their guy but those have been few and far between.
However, I could be completely wrong about this. I mean, the generalization is huge and I'm sure there are exceptions to both rules but maybe this is cultural? Is it the general consensus in the Orient that males are smarter than females versus the western trend of girls being smarter (or at least working harder at academics)?
2. It's only when you're in your 20's and still feel like the youngest and most inexperienced person in the world that you realize exactly how infantile the teen years really are.
3. I post opinion entries and never get back to people who reply (*looks at
the_sweet,
winterwing3000 and
liar_xx over at the
Concrit entry*). I apologize for this. I really do mean to reply, I'm just unpardonably lazy.
4. I am currently writing a fanfic that is going nowhere. Not that the story isn't getting written or that I don't have an ending in mind, I've just realized that there was progress in the first three chapters but from chapters 4 to 9, the situation has remained almost the same. I have the feeling that I'm being too subtle. I mean, I'm hiding things from myself now. But anyway, this whole entry was an excuse to pimp fic so here's the latest:
