Burning Intuition

((ooc: Not to be rped to))

Desiree slid the door to her sanctuary open. It was a small room off to the side of her living room separated by Japanese shoji doors that added to the room’s calming tones or blues and purple. It was full of satin pillows and incense that would help in meditation…and also her divination. She took a calming breath and summoned a small pale blue fire to her fingertip, lighting a stick of incense. Smoke blossomed from it and the scent of wormwood filled her nostrils.

It relaxed her, but only slightly. She’d had a precognitive dream and that’s why she was now lighting up in her meditation room. She placed the tip of one incense stick to another, this time lighting a stick of hazel. The smokes intertwined and caressed Desiree’s face. She lit a few more before sitting on a pillow in the center of the room. She took another deep breath and closed her eyes and was assaulted by the images of her dream…

It was a temple, complete with columns and steps. Very “Houses of the Holy.” She started slowly walking up the steps. This was not supposed to be here. Once inside, she could see torches, everywhere. But while she was used to fire in this part of Ember’s mind burning blue, instead these were purple…almost black. She followed the line of torches down the entrance hall and into the main chamber.
Ember was sitting sideways on a carved white marble throne on a raised dais.

“Barriers are breaking down. Things are emerging and gaining power.” “You see, ---, I’m --- most in the world. The power to --- ones we love. The ability to do --- repercussion.” She swung around, raising her arms to the ceiling of the temple. “--- agent of divine retribution. To become a Goddess of Vengeance. To burn ---.”

Flames exploded around Desiree and she pulled back---

---only to find the flames were real and encircling her; burning away the satin and silk of her meditation room. She jumped up and waved her hands out, calming the fire. It died down and smoldered out of existence. Desiree winced at the wretched smell of burnt carpet, she waved her hand out and restored the room to its former beauty; incense still burning.

She collapsed on the floor and brought her knees up to her forehead, curling up and thinking, ‘What is going on? Why does the fire keep exploding in my face?’ She sighed and lifted her head up. There was only one way to find out. She stood up and rummaged through one of the drawers before pulling out a dark purple candle; perfect for what she wanted to do.

Desiree returned to the center of the room and set the candle on a silver stand before sitting back on her pillow. She flicked her wrist and the candle wick burst into flame. She took a deep, relaxing breath, inhaling more wormwood and hazel and closing her eyes. As she exhaled she opened her eyes and let them focus on the candle.

Smoke caressed her features, intertwining with the fire and her hair. She relaxed and let it take her in; let it tell her what it wanted to. Her eyes penetrated the flames---

Ember blazed with a white hot intensity she had never known. Her back was to Desiree but she was choking someone, Desiree could tell. She reached out even though she knew it was just in her head. Ember gave a sharp laugh and threw the body aside, blonde locks of hair falling in front of the girl’s face so that Desiree couldn’t make out who it was.

NO!

Ember turned around, her hair a wildfire of power; it was loose and burning around her like a halo of fire, overtaking her until she wasn’t even solid anymore…just flames in the shape of a woman. She narrowed the red slits she had for eyes at Desiree, “No one will stop me.”

The blazing phoenix reached out and wrapped a hand around the djinn’s throat and squeezed.

Desiree pulled back, gasping for breath. Her pupils were dilated and she had held back a cry of fear. That was not good. Why would Ember do something like that? Her eyes narrowed at the burning candle, something was not right…the fire was trying to tell her something…and if she didn’t figure out what soon…a burning sensation tingled down her back, she reached behind her back and brushed against her newest tattoo…it was burning.

She bit her lip and stood up, putting the flame out.
