I understand taking artistic license with some facts for stylistic reasons, you often have to sacrifice realism in fiction writing to get a certain effect, but there are some things that just bug me when people write them. It doesn't mean they have to stop, I guess, but I'm allowed to complain about them, even if they don't have to listen to me XD

Actually, I've got bigger fish to fry than the ol' white-out orgasm now. Like people calling jerking a guy off "fisting" his cock. Which I also wrote an entry about. Worst mental image EVER.

And all of that, of course, pales in comparison with my hatred of people who resort to stupid, anime-inspired, completely inflexible TEE HEE seme/uke roles and turn adult men into giggly teenage girls. I'm sure you agree with me on that one, being that you're in the DxK fandom and all XD

And I'm 22, which really isn't actually all that old, but all these damn whippersnapers in the jrock fandom make me feel a lot older XD They're all "I'm 14 and you're old because you can legally purchase alcohol and cigarettes!" and I'm like "WTF? gb2 middle school, you dumb kid!"

Hey, of course you're allowed to complain. You know, some things just annoy the shit out of me when I'm trying to read a fic and maybe even like the idea that was behind it, but the way it comes out just sucks.

*lol "fisting" a cock should be rather painful x) But when it comes to me, not being a native speaker and still trying to write English, I sometimes read a certain expression and when I read it more than once, I kinda think it might really be right unless somebody tells me otherwise. There are so many expressions you can't just look up in a dictionary. Damn, it took me years to understand what 'flicking the bird' means x)
So maybe people use wrong expressions because they read them elsewhere and think they are right? So the wrong word is spread?

Oh god, no no, this whole uke/seme thing is really annoying. Of course I don't believe in that and I told a friend that I'll try to write Shinyaxsomebody once where Shin is this masculine, dominant guy and not the whiny girl or the intriguing beast. And that me, who HATES all Shin fics since I simply don't like imagening him with anybody but his dog x)

I do love some fics where they are shown as giggly teens, but then I KNOW it was just meant as a joke. The problem is that the girls who write most of the fics are just too young to even know anything about sex, let alone about gay sex and their personalities.

Nope, I have never had an LJ icon that had fudge on it XD You may have seen this icon which I am about to post with, though.

I don't blame non-native speakers for picking up awkward or incorrect phrases, that's just part of language acquisition. It's not really your fault at all, especially since it's hard to find well-written gay smut that isn't either too vulgar and gross (I've seen people call a urethra a "piss slit" for god's sake), or too flowery and lame. Native speakers probably have the same problem, especially the younger ones. I figure complaining about it is better than not doing anything, though -- at least someone might read me whining and say "Oh, that's wrong? Good to know." XD

And a friend of mine and I said the same thing about Shinya. I would never want to think about him sexually, but I'd consider writing him as a top just to ruffle people's feathers. I love writing Toshiya as topping Kaoru or Die because everyone sees Toshiya as super submissive and girly which is such a crock of shit XD

Giggly teens can be good in crackfic, but when people think that's seriously how they act it's kind of ridiculous.

I've actually heard of Die Ärzte from a German friend of mine. That one music video of theirs, the censored version of the one with zombies, is so genius. And I like the one in an elevator, too. My friend went kinda nuts sending me videos of theirs once... I should try to get more into them, I liked their stuff.

Behold! Now you did a big, big mistake x) I will certainly upload you some Die Ärzte (DÄ) stuff if you wanna and I can upload you the uncensored version of the song you mean. You might have seen the vid with Lara Croft too. That's kinda cool. Heh, they are around for like 20 years or more and their concerts rock. They simply don't take themselves so serious which is really nice in that business for a change. Heh, Farin Urlaub, the vocalist/guitarist wrote a song about being a rockstar after reading an interview with Johathan Davis, where he complained how 'hard' it is to be famous, when people come up to you and ask you for an autograph and such, but he did it in such a way that you have to know why he wrote the song or you think he hates his rockstar life.

In the beginning, I was a bit shocked that people use the word 'cock' so often and so easily, because the German translation is kinda more vulgar here probabyl than in the US. Here, it would be perfectly okay to say 'member' (the translation for it of course) while it sounds weird reading that in english x) But I love learning new things in languages since it makes writing for me a hell lot easier. I'm always a bit, well, depressed, when I read a good fic from a native since I can very well understand every word but would never be able to write like that.

Oh, you're right. C'mon, let's shock the ShinxDie fans! They are (being all prejudiced here now) a bunch of 14-year old girls who think their opinion is the only right one. I've had so much trouble with ppl from that fandom; or well, not me but my friends did.

Funny that you mention it. fonulyn and I just wrote a DiexTosh fic (just for our own amusement) where Tosh is a pornstar and he really isn't girly or insecure at all. Heh, and he tops^^

I dunno, I always see more than one side in a person. For example, the 'real' Kaoru appears to be quite strong minded, stright forward, focused and blablabla, but those people, the ones who are dominant in everyday life, tend to be the opposite in their sex-life or at least the first doesn't have to do anything with the latter. People tend to ignore that fact. (though I have to admit I love top-Kao x)

I have a queston. You probably know the expression "clap" referring to gonorrhea, right? Now is it 'to give somebody a clap' or 'to give somebody the clap' or what?

I know how you feel about reading other languages... I'm nowhere near as fluent in Japanese as you are in English, by any stretch of the imagination, but when I read stuff other people have written it's like "How did they even come up with that sentence? Guh!" Sometimes I even feel that way about English authors who have a poetic style. I just don't tend to be very poetic, I'm more blunt and vulgar XD

I never read any DiexShinya or interact with that fandom, but I've heard they have some kind of bizarre vendetta against the DiexKaoru fandom. Liek, omg, fictional Die can only have sex with one fictional man, and that fictional man is fictional Shinya! It's craziness.

I like top Kaoru too, I actually kinda switch back and forth between who tops out of Kaoru and Toshiya, but I tend to write Die as very bottomy. It's not a hard-and-fast rule or anything, but he strikes me as kind of submissive, so even if I'm not necessarily writing him as bottom, I generally write him as kind of sub, you know? XD That's just my personal perception, though... I'd do things differently if the mood struck.

hah, then wait till I get home today and I upload you some of their stuff. There is this one concert they did last year at Rock am Ring (you might have heard about the festival since Diru played there too) where they headlined. Man, that was awesome. 80.000 people doing what they say and demanding to do a "seating-laola". I would love to show the Dirus, especially Kaoru, their stuff to see how it can be too. Mostly with them interacting x)

In German, I tend to be very poetic when I write since I love my language and I like to use older phrases because they sound so much more sophisticated. When I read things like that in English, I'm always so envious.

When I began reading fanfics, I read everything that came across, mostly German ones, and there were a couple of DiexShin fics, but I never interfered with the comm either. I was only angry when I saw some kind of banner against DiexKao there. I mean I don't tell them their (fictional) pairing is impossible and disgusting, so they should leave mine alone too.

I could probably be poetic in English, but it doesn't happen when I'm writing fanfic, partly because the characters I'm writing aren't very serious. What I write in terms of fanfic tends to border on crack XD

I don't speak Japanese, I just study it. I'm nowhere near fluent and I'm forgetting more and more of it all the time. I need to get back to studying again, but it's hard to be motivated when there's so much fanfic to write XD other stuff going on in my life

And I so totally see what you mean about Die XDDDD But on the other hand, I could also see him demanding to be an exclusive top because he was too insecure about looking less than manly. I wanted to write a fic about Toshiya doing porn after the Dynamite Tommy scandal broke, but that didn't ever end up happening. He'd make an awesome porn star, true story.

C'mon, Kaoru used to be so dorky not even that long ago. I only wished they'd interact more on stage or then that one sees more backstage stuff with him and not only with drinking Die not that I mind. I think though he only conceals that side from us. It's still there. There was this one thing in a Hairo no ginka (I believe it was in there) where Die said he was out drinking with one American AND Kaoru until the security came and told them to be quiet since they were so loud. That made me sigh in relief. The man DOES have some kind of private life after all...

I do like DiexTosh a lot too and it's funny that you said it's your fav pairing since I hardly know anybody who claims that. Weird, since those two would look so good together. Fonulyn and I have some DiexTosh fics going on and we definetely post some in the future. I will tell you when. One is AU (school) and a bit off the hook and crazy, but I kinda like it still. I like the Tosh there since he appears to be this skirt-wearing girly type of guy but in the end really isn´t.

Heh, and I still feel bad for killing him in one vampire fic of ours.

I think everyone's been hanging out with Die now, 'cause he's the best at translating. That, or they think it's funny to watch him flirt with guys and not realize he's doing it.

I like Kaoru x Die a lot, it's partially responsible for me getting into the fandom, but my favorite noncrack pairing is actually Toshiya x Kaoru x Die XD

I don't get why not more people like Die and Toshiya together. They're both so hot, they would seriously look really good together, why does everyone go "ew I don't like them together at all"? It's not like their personalities are incompatible, they're both really goofy and friendly and joke around a lot.

I'll let you know if I ever write Toshiya as a porn star but I'm warning you, I'm not sure who I'd pair him with. It could very well end up being a Toshiya x Miyavi fic because I'm crazy like that XD

Aw, Die is just that kind of guy who idealizes other guys and they love that. It's like the pack following a leader. I've seen it happen several times XD So they all love to hang out with him since he gives them the feeling of being the heros (or something like that).

I can't understand that there's so few people who like DiexTosh. Just like you said, they are compatible in charachter. But maybe that's the point. They are too 'similar' to each other. At least fictional Die to fictional Toshiya. Although I wouldn't agree upon that.

Hey, if you pair up Tosh and Miyavi, I'd be perfectly okay with that. Actually, I once made a friend of mine write me a Toshiya/Miyavi smut fic since I just loved the imagination of thost two black-haired (at that time) tall and simply gorgeous guys together. Plus, Toshiya would - for once - be the more calm type of guy in a fic XD
