Thanks to my dear friend Kat I now have a rockin' cover letter.  Pity I wasted the first, oh, 60 resumes by pairing them with a letter that was absolute drivel.  Truly, this is the toughest audience I've ever had to write for.  But hey, new letter, new opportunity.  I shall now brace myself for the inevitable deluge of phone calls (that's right, deluge).  I also downloaded a free 60-day trial of Office 2007 so I can teach myself PowerPoint, and in one week my skills went from nonexistent to "certification level" (as the nice lady at staffing agency #2 put it).  Conveniently enough, I've discovered that I LOVE PowerPoint.  I've been having way too much fun working on this practice presentation.  Small comforts, I guess.  The next big challenge will be to overcome my now-wonky sleep patterns.  Because my windows all face a brick wall, I don't get any sunlight worth mentioning until about 10:30 a.m.  This means that there's no light to trip the "hey, it's daytime!" signal in my brain, and I'm having a very hard time getting out of bed at a reasonable hour.  And as much as I love sleeping in, I need to keep my brain chemistry/sleep cycles in some sort of alignment with the outside world.  Because, y'know, I'll totally have to be getting up to go to work any day now.  (Any day now, dammit!)
