Because Lost was amazing and crazy last night I am skipping ahead in my 365 pics just so I can post last night's and do this rambling. I'll go back and post the previous two days' pics later.
So I basically cried a bunch of times. Every time people reunited and remembered their island lives, I was a goner.
Jin and Sun? Bawling. It was so sad how they died together, and then to see them so happy about the baby and remembering in the sideways flashes killed me.
So glad Sawyer and Juliet had their moment. Loved the banter and their faces as they realized who they were.
Jack and Kate were my OTP from the beginning.
And Charlie and Claire and Aaron together again. <3
Shannon and Boone!
So many people who had gone away and been missed, or been separated too long.
And then we found out what the sideways flashes actually were. Gah.
So this is what I (and I think most people) got from the finale. Everything that happened on the island was real. All of their flash backs were real. All of the flash forwards. There was a polar bear, and crazy time traveling, and Dharma, and groups of people fighting, and this mystical island that brothers were fighting over. All of it.
The sideways flashes were what happened to everyone after they died. They went to this world that was familiar (the airplane), but slightly different (Sawyer is a cop, Jack and Juliet have a son), where they could wait for everyone else to come meet up. Because like Christian said, these were people who had been together for the most important part of their lives. I loved that. That even though a lot of them didn't get happy endings in life, they all found each other at the end. And they all looked so happy and sure of everything. After so many years of watching them suffer, it was nice to see such contentment.
The reunion scenes on Lost have always been my favorite, and the one in the church was the biggest of all.
And sure, not everyone was there. But I'm sure behind the scenes stuff had to do with some of that. And we can just figure that some people weren't ready to move on with the rest of them. Like Ana Lucia. And like Ben, he knew what had happened but wasn't quite ready to go in yet. After all of his evil doing, it's kind of sweet how he ended up helping Hurley and got to come be with the rest of the Losties after the end.
What Hurley, Ben, and Desmond did on the island after the finale is a mystery. As is what happened to everyone on the plane after they left. We'll never know what they went on to do, or how each of them died, but they all ended up back together.
I like to think that Desmond made it back to Penny and his son. Hopefully Claire and Kate made it back to Aaron. Hope Hurley had a happy life, taking care of the island and its people.
I was so sad that Jack died. Cried buckets when Vincent came to lay next to him. But it was awesome how the end mirrored the very beginning.
And now they're moving on to whatever is next.
*cries some more*
