You guys are very convincing. I went for the tour. Hee. But next time, talk me out of taking so many
pictures, ok? Seriously. I have enough. Make me stop! 'Cause then I want to resize and upload them all and it's such work. :P
I left after noon and went to get gas before heading down. While I was at the gas station I heard a nasty crunch and looked up to see that two cars had smashed on the street. They pulled over right by the station and the one truck had a good dent in their front bumper, but everyone looked ok. Then I was on the freeway and was passed by not one, but two highway patrol officers, one with their lights on who cut in front of me to get off the freeway. And THEN, on the way back home there was an accident on the 14 freeway that made me stuck in a mile stretch for probably a half hour 'cause they closed two lanes and had cops all over the place. Oy with cars and drivers.
It always makes me laugh when the parking lot attendant asks if I know how to get to where the tours are. Yeah, I got it, dude. I sat outside waiting for Christina and Heather and their friend Nina to get there from the airport. We went in and went to buy tickets. The girls recognized us, of course, and teased Christina when she didn't have her ID out and ready like the rest of us, lol. We were randomly talking about other people we know who come in for tours and bugged our favorite tour guide, who said he was going to be on the phones for the rest of the day (it's a conspiracy I tell you). He kept asking if we could come back tomorrow 'cause there are other fans coming in, but no one can. He said he'd go talk to whoever our guide was going to be and tell them we like GG stuff, but we think he told the wrong guy or something, 'cause our guide was not too accomodating.
We were on the tour with just two other people from Kentucky. Our guide was nice and knew a lot, but he insisted on telling us everything he knew and talking forever in the most boring places. We were dying, lol. Seriously spent forever on Hennessey street hearing things we allllll knew, well except for Nina, but I'm sure she was somewhat bored too. So I take more random/artsy pics.
Went to the ER bay and the doors were open so we walked in to the little space they have back there for shots before they cut to the soundstage filming. Fake soda machines and all that jazz. They were building this thing (that I completely just forgot the name for) outside the bay and in front of the Jumbo Mart, but it's for Cold Case, not ER.
We went to Stars Hollow and were very much disappointed when the guide barely let us walk around at all. Snapped a few pics before we had to get back on the cart. This tree looked very sad, lol. [[ There was framing up like they were going to or had used it to hold a screen for shade or something, and a little newsstand in front of the restaurant down from Doose's. And the grand re-opening sign was still up but the balloons were all deflated now.]
He did let us off again by Sookie's so we could go see Lorelai's house, but we had to stay off of the yard. [[ For those that were concerned (me!) the Chuppah is alive. Over with random stuff by Babette's house and all out of place, but it's alive. The yard still looks bad and neglected and I keep wondering if they're trying to make the house look crappy on purpose or just haven't used it at all lately. And there was some stuff outside the Twickham house. ]]
Went to the mill to see the Scenic Art department (again), the place where they make the plaster sutff (again) and the special effects video (again again again). There was no work going on in the metal shop or carpentry place which was slightly eerie. It was all quiet. Either everyone was on a break or they shut down early in the day. Weird.
Transportation came next, but no flying car picture! First time they haven't done that at all. Don't know why. Maybe they don't do them in the afternoon now or something. Central Perk, blah blah blah. Our guide said we were going to go to something special before the museum and it was... the sound room I went in last time. And he talked way too long about the floor for our liking. Heh. And then we went to the museum and made sure the girls saw all of the Veronica Mars stuff before sitting on the bench by the door and probably looking bored out of our minds. Hee.
I just realized that I didn't talk about when we went to a soundstage and I can't remember when it actually came in the tour. I didn't even right it down in my notebook, lol. But we did. Probably after the Central Perk or something. Went to the Yale one. Oh, and on the way we saw Shane West. He was in a car and turned out in front of our tram then passed right next to us. I spotted him before he turned and poked people to tell them. Hee. Yay for a random sighting! So, Yale.[[ There was a small bedroom set with bright blue walls next to the little office set they have in the corner. Peeked in through some doors while wandering Yale and saw some kind of platform that was probably for the cotillion. It had white fabric draped above with twinkle lights and there was some blue fabric left in piles on the ground. Looked fancy. There was a random sign up on one of the walls of the "outdoor" Yale corridors that said something about an architectural buidling. We walked through the newsroom and there were random scantrons on a few of the desks which I found amusing for some reason.]]
It was almost 5pm when the girls took off, so I stayed in the center and hung out at Starbucks for an hour and a half and read. No way I was going to attempt to head home at 5. I left there around 6:30. Had trouble finding my keys when I got to my car and the security guard at the gate that's right next to it called out asking if I was locked out. It took him two times asking before I realized he was talking to me and said I'd just found my keys. But that was nice that he seemed concerned. I drove by to see how the freeway was looking and decided to head down to the one shopping center I can always find on Hollywood way. It's past the WB Ranch and I saw an LG ad on the bustop so I decided to park my car and walk down to kill some time and take some more pictures. I've perfecting my techinique of taking pictures without looking like I'm taking pictures, aka holding the camera at my side or in front of me and shooting backwards. It amuses me, lol.
Grabbed something to eat and drink and finally got on the freeway just after 7. Much better once I got off of the 134. Luckily I'm only on that for a mile or so. Everything was decent until the accident just outside of the valley. Got home around 9.
Good freeway:
Bad freeway:
And now it's after 11 and I have to go do the dishes that are always waiting for me whether I was here to make anything or not, and shower and sleep 'cause I have to be at work at 8:45 for training tomorrow.
