Are you guys sick of tour posts yet?
I am so not used to getting up early. I'm dead right now. I can never sleep before I have to wake up early because I'm afraid I'll miss my alarm. So I wake up a ton of times to check the clock. I got up before my alarm went off at 5am and got ready. I was out of the house before 6am because of my traffic paranoia. Of course the roads were awesome and I got to the WB at 7:10am. WB!Pigeon. Yes, this is what I do when I'm bored and waiting for the people to get there and open the parking lot, lol.
I went and sat in front of the building for a few minutes before copperboom and her daughter got there. Then we waited for wheredidalltheanvilsgo? to come (we'll call her Anvil for short, lol). Everyone was on time, which means early for us, and we went and got our tickets. We were the first people to buy any and then looked at the gift shop and kept a watch out for other people coming in and buying tickets. We were hoping no one else would come or that a lot of people would come and there'd be two tours. But there was just enough for 1 with 10 people on the tram and we were the only GG fans.
"I'd like to kiss you, but I just washed my hair. Bye!" <- One of my favorite lines from the WB pre-tour movie for some reason.
We were afraid we'd have no luck (even though I wore my "lucky" shirt), but it was a pretty good tour. Saw some things I'd never seen before. Our guide tried to show us as much as possible and knew a lot without being annoying about it. He was fun. And he didn't yell at us when we kept wandering away from the main group when he'd stop to talk. I swear we were always standing on the opposite side of where we were supposed to or pacing around waiting to move on to something else. Heh.
I'm wondering if anything is as boring as going to the New York streets all the time. I can't think of anything else except for maybe the museum. I'm so jaded and mean. Hee. But I've seen it all! And I don't care about the movies that have been shot there that they list every single time. Sorry. And yet, I still take new pictures every single time. Oy! Mostly very random stuff today.
We went over to the ER ambulence bay (again, I have enough pictures of this place but I keep taking more!). We weren't going to go in because they were supposed to be getting it ready to film, but one of the workers said we could and they weren't doing anything until 10. The Jumbo Mart was looking nice. I'd never seen it all lit up before.
When we parked the tram to go to the ER stuff we could see into Stars Hollow and the corner of Luke's. We went to Stars Hollow next. Walked around most of it: to the diner, around the gazebo down to the houses and over to Lorelai's yard. Again with the random.
He took us to the Scenic Art department. Crazy giant paintings, man. It was a ship scene for Pirates of the Caribbean 3. All done by hand. Impressive. Then we got to watch a guy make a plastic siding with the vacuum thing that looked like cinder blocks. Cool. And then we had to go to the special effects room where they have a little video on gunshots and the fake snow window.
Next were the "surprise" things that he told us not to ruin for the rest of the tour, lol. The transportation part (ok, there. I found something more boring. I'm tired of that room) and then the Central Perk. They must all be letting people run around behind the couch now. It's weird how they keep getting more and more lenient with that set. Maybe they're going to get rid of it eventually.
On the way to the museum area we saw Alexis Bledel walking to a trailer (hers, probably). The guide alerted us and it took me a minute to actually spot her as we passed by. It was just for a second but yay for a sighting! She was wearing a green-ish skirt and a white top, but she probably wasn't dressed for her scenes yet. Her hair was pulled back. We also passed George Clooney's car. OMG, SO TINY! It's one of
these and black and looks very small and crazy cool, lol. Even our tour guide got excited and wished we could have cameras out there. Heh.
We parked by the museum and then went to the Scoring Room, where they have the musicians come in to play music for movies and stuff. Very nice room. I'd never been there. It would be cool to see them actually work in there. There was a table with coffee things in the building and I took a napkin 'cause it had the WB on it. I amuse people who come on tours with me.
We were afraid our guide wasn't going to take us to a stage (we'd asked for the Dragonfly), but we walked over to it from the music thing and walked through the Inn. It's still a cool set no matter how many times I go in there. Our guide pointed out that the other door out of the kitchen has a 7 on the outside to look like a room when you're looking from the office or something. But we all just got excited because it was Lucky #7! Heh. Oh, I almost forgot. In the kitchen on the side table was a Starbucks cup with LG on the top. I so wanted to take it, lol. When we were leaving the stage a worker on a bike told copperboom that George Clooney was down on the corner. So we went out and were ignoring the tour guide while trying to spot him. The worker even tried pointing for us as he rode away, but I couldn't see a thing. Oh well. We were close!
We went to the museum and just sat and waited after walking over to look at the GG stuff once again. And that was the end. Since we were on the very first tour of the day it ended up being longer than usual. The museum doesn't open until 10 so we get to spend more time on the other parts of the lot and only a few minutes in the museum. Good deal. It's way too crazy in summer to attempt a second tour. So many people. They need to go back to school and work so we can take over tours again.
Spoilery things: [[They're filming episode 3 right now. We didn't really see anything. They were doing Yale stuff this morning and then probably filming in the Inn later since they had the lights on and the air running. There were a couple "hot set" signs around I think. Luke's is all fixed and looking like new. I kind of wanted to see it when it was wrecked but never got to. Heh. But it looks pretty much the same. There were a bunch of polaroids on one of the tables inside. Lorelai's front yard was torn up and not looking good at all. And the chuppah was missing! It's always been there. I was shocked and saddened when I noticed the empty space. Distress! The boat is still loaded with crap in the garage. ]]
No real problems coming home. There was a car stopped in the second lane on the 5 which backed things up for a little bit. It's crazy how one little thing can cause such a hold up because everyone slows down and people have to get out of the lane while stopped. I stopped at the vista point outside of Palmdale and then stopped to get something to eat and still got home around noon.
My many pics are
here. I can't help it, man. I'm a picture taking whore.
