You can be addicted to a certain kind of sadness

WHO: Orihime Inoue, OPEN
WHAT: FOREVER ALONE
WHEN: January 4, 2013 - Dusk
WHERE: Genessia - Garden Park Apartments - Roof

It was very cold. Once, Orihime had thought that hurting on the inside could numb a person to what was happening on the outside, but that wasn't true. Her aching heart did nothing to prevent her from shivering, even with her coat and hat and gloves, nor did it prevent the goosebumps on her skin.

But the snow was beautiful, and it made her feel a little better to watch it gently falling over the town and drifting through the golden pools of lamp light. She sat quietly, her arms wrapped around her knees, and felt like a huge jerk. She hadn't even considered what Dean must have been feeling when she treated him with such familiarity, gifting him with pies and a sasquatch plush. He hadn't told her about his favorite food here, nor had he made mention of Sam and the nickname he used for his younger brother. Of course he would be angry about that she knew such things when he had never spoken to her about them.

Her chin sank down onto her knees as she glanced guiltily to the side, blinking away the snowflakes from her lashes.

The fact of the matter was that she felt homesick...not just for Karakura Town, but for Nautilus as well, where she'd known Dean, and Six, and had heard of Raye and Harry. She missed V, and Michael and England, and Sanji and Skyfire. She felt awful for breaking her promise to Wally. He probably thought she'd gone to Sleep and wouldn't come back. If there were just some way to send him a message to let him know that she was okay, and that she'd try to return as soon as she could...

At least Rukia was here. But even so, she hadn't known of the little dance duo the two of them had put on for Orihime's friend Axel to thank him for his song. Everything was so different. It was almost like being twelve all over again, feeling so horribly alone and helpless in a strange world.

She'd watch the snow a little longer. In time she'd feel better, and she'd come up with a plan to start fresh. For now, however, she just needed the peace of a quiet winter night to soothe her broken heart.
