Mission Log 6 [Video]

Aug 17, 2012 20:10

[Someone is very irritated as he turns on the feed.]

Anybody else get a visit from our new paperboy?

[He turns the video so the basement window of his apartment can be seen. The paperboy has good aim: Hit it dead center and smashed it real good.]

Your home has been attacked?

[Paarthurnax is serious. As far as he's aware good things don't come through windows. That's not what windows are for.]

Of sorts. The only thing damaged was the window.

[He envies you right now, Paarthurnax: No windows to break.]

There is the disadvantage in such large windows. [As opposed to arrow slits, maybe.] And in covering them with glass. Sahlo spaan.

[You should sleep out in the fresh air. But then the paperboy could aim for you.]

[He almost argues that the window isn't that large but remembers how castles used to be set up. Yeah, it would seem large in comparison.]

[He's tempted to sleep in the fresh air though. Got any room in your cave or whatever?]

Can't really argue with that. Thing is I don't remember subscribing to the newspaper.

[Paarthurnax pretty much only knows architecture by way of its weak points.]

[Well, the whole floor's always free, since he prefers perching up on the walls. If you don't mind a dragon looming over you, you're good.]

Then the boy had no cause to visit you? Gein volaan. Hmmh. Unless he was angered that you did not.

[Actually, it'd probably be the safest place to sleep. No one wants to tick off a dragon in its lair...]

Could be that. Though a broken window isn't going to convince me to sign up for it voluntarily.

No. He invites vothaarn, resistance better. But does his newspaper offer anything of value?

Just the weather report. [He looks through it again.]

You tend to hunt in Fayren, right? According to this, it's supposed to have thunderstorms tomorrow evening.

That is worth knowing. Lok meyz nahlot... the skies here grow too silent. Perhaps I will go to see if this paper tells the truth.

Well, it certainly can't hurt. The weather report isn't always accurate back home. Not sure how good the weathermen are here.

It would be remarkable for mere constructs to mimic such mistakes. But I hope they are right. There is much to be learned from bahlaan strun- a good storm.

[Six lifts an eyebrow curiously.] What do you mean?

Your people have some knowledge of the sky. Perhaps you know how it is shaped by the forces of wind and air, heat and moisture. A tempest sets these forces into play against one another. Ro meyz frod. It is an excellent demonstration... and an excellent test of this world.

...Point taken. 'Course we'd probably have to keep an eye on it for several weeks to make sure it wasn't a fluke if it's right or wrong.

Mal heyv. Provided no-one alters the weather, that should be a small task. First I will watch the storm.

All right. Let me know how it goes?
