Here is my take on Therion show (as I posted at Doughmag.com):
"Better now than never" - Christopher Johnsson, lead guitarist stated at the show speaking about finally coming to US with a major tour. Indeed, a great and maybe only opportunity to see legendary opera band perform for more than hour and a half!
After a great show of main openers Beyond The Embrace, Therion took over the stage with their atmospheric repertoire. A 10 piece band created quite a breathtaking experience! The crowd that didnt fill the venue, were still great as everybody was headbanging and having a great time understanding how long they waited for that day. Some songs played were Blood of Kingu, Uthark Runa, Invocation of Naamah, The Invincible, Seven Secrets of Sphinx and a bunch of others. The energy was growing as it was approaching the end of the show where Megatherion took the culmination point of the night. Apparently that wasn't enough for Philly metal fans, so the band amazingly played 3 encores. The hunger was satisfied when Therion finished it with some song from an old album or maybe a demo. Listening to a combination of vigorous metal and quality opera was an amazing experience no other band can deliver. Therion is still definitely one the most unique bands in the world, even though they are very old.
