Room 330, Saturday Afternoon

Feb 23, 2013 15:41

With his portal to Westchester leaving in a little under a few hours, Evan was starting to grow a little anxious. His bags were packed with the exception of a few of Ozzy's toys, which he was tossing gently across the room for the stubby little dog to fetch. There were books in his bags, yes, but mostly he'd just packed what clothes he would need ( Read more... )

Kate's bowcase was slung over her shoulder as she slid into their room.

"You sure you don't want to come to Turkey?" she asked, smiling at Ozzy and Evan.

[If you are still around!]

"I'm not sure at all," Evan admitted, offering Kate a little smile as he gave his knee a pat, trying to entice Ozzy back over to his side of the room. "But I'm really only here on the good graces of the teachers of my last school, kind of like an exchange program without Fandom sending anybody back to the Jean Grey School in return. And they want to check up on me, to make sure I'm doing okay here, so I probably shouldn't keep them waiting. The headmaster gets grumpy when he's kept waiting."

Logan was funny like that.

Kate smirked a little at the thought. "Well now I'm wondering who Fandom would send on exchange if they had to."

"To go to a school where the school grounds are alive and the toilets routinely try to kill you? It would have to be either someone who can hold their own, or someone who is really used to weirdness. Powers... would probably help."

Evan wasn't big on mutant supremacy or anything like that, but he knew first-hand how cruel his classmates could be to anyone that was different from them. He wouldn't wish Glob Herman or Quentin Quire's bullying on anybody.

"I'm almost afraid to ask how a toilet would try to kill someone," she said. "But I'm going to because imagining it is way weirder."

She rolled her eyes at the powers thing. Of course they would.

"It's what happens when the school building is supposed to be optimized with Danger Shop technology, and then you have little intergalactic gremlins running around poking into things they're not supposed to, I think," Evan replied, shrugging his shoulders a little. "The school grounds are alive, too. And an entire wing of the building is made out of ice. It's kind of hard to imagine it being any weirder than it really is, I think."

"So when you got the 'Fandom is so insane' speech, it didn't register so much," Kate concluded, smirking a bit. She vaguely wondered what Billy's 'iwish' powers would do with all that.

"Not so much," Evan agreed, laughing a little and just how true that was. "Fandom is way closer to being like home than the Jean Grey School ever was. And I like the people better, too."

He gave Kate a little smile at that. She was pretty great, so far as roommates went. At least she didn't stare, like his last one had.

"You'll take lots of pictures while you're in Turkey, though, right? I'm sorry I'm missing it, and I've already got Sholeh hunting down postcards, so I'm going to have to do a proper spring break vicariously through friends, this year."

"Our principal is hotter too," she joked, smiling back at him. (Though not really a joke since she had eyes) "I like the kids here better than my old school too."

"You can get pictures on your phone, right? I'll text 'em to you so you can see what's happening."

It... wasn't actually difficult to be more attractive than Headmaster Logan, Evan was pretty sure.

"I can," Evan replied with a nod. "My Uncle Cluster made sure I had a phone I could do video talks with him on, since he's always really busy. Pictures shouldn't be any trouble at all."

He grinned a little.

"In return, the best I can probably offer is what the school cafeteria looks like when it gets moody."

"Ice. Wing." Kate told him. "I'm expecting a picture. And you can keep an eye on stuff at home - in New York."

"I'll do what I can," Evan promised, nodding. "Maybe I'll be able to get a picture going down the ice slide from upstairs to the ground floor. And is there anything in New York I should keep an eye open for in particular?"

"Mostly that it's still there," Kate said wryly. "You never know with New York."

"... Good point," Evan allowed, blinking. "Okay, so, ice slide, and I'll try to get into the city just to make sure it isn't being attacked by Skrulls or something again."

Actually, that didn't sound like a bad way to spend a break, either!
