From Mexico to Los Angeles. It's all in a days work. We received word that Los Angeles was under attack by possible demons. There was no way we were going to ignore the call. The chopper was ready and we took off as soon as possible ( Read more... )

Demons had ripped apart everyone but Sam and I. Everyone. There might have been Gamilla left, because I had seen him a minute ago, cornred, firing to keep himself alive, but that was a minute ago, and in that minute, I had to make sure that Sam was aafe and also, wacthed my best friend get shredded by a pack of demons and looked him in the eyes as his life was ripped away. It killed me to see it, but I was proud that when he died, he didn't look at me with fear. He took a couple of demons with him and wasn't relenting until he was gone.

I was proud of him, but now, there were all of these demons and then there was just me and Sam, and I wasn't letting anything happen to her. I rushed to her side. There were a lot of demons, but we weren't exactly without weapons. We just needed to prevent what the others had let happen, which was being surrounded with so many crazy demons coming after us.

There was a weird glowing light in the distance and there was a lot of other gunfire, which was good. Others were fighting them too, but if they weren't smart, then they would be dead. Being down here was just not smart.

"Sam, we have to get to an elevated psoition, where they can't reach us and reign down the bullets on them. We should have done it all along, all of us and it's the best way to kill the demons, strategically, and it's definitely the best way for us to stay alive."

With a bit of freedom, I created more by hailing bullets as we rounded the corner. "Search for a door in one of the warehouses and then we go to the top."

I wished the we had with us our climbing and rappelling equipment.

I looked around. "Ok. If we're going to do that, we should do it now. These demons are showing no signs of slowing down." We both saw the light, in the distance. I was too out there to even ask what it was. Chances are, Riley had no clue. With Graham dead, our minds were on him.

Quickly, we headed to the corner. Demons were following, but we held them off with the guns.

"Search for a door in one of the warehouses and then we go to the top."

I found an open door in the middle of the block. "Riley! Here. I found an opening." Riley ran and fired as he reached me. We ran in and held the door. "We're not going to be able to hold them out." Frantically, I looked around. There was a thick, steel pipe in the middle of the room. "Hold it, I'm going to grab something." I ran over to the pipe and ran back over to Riley. "I think this might hold them out." Together, we put it in place. It created a barrier. "We should make sure every window or door is secure, before we head upstairs." Since, this is a warehouse, I'm sure there aren't many doors or windows to check. I just wanted to make sure we were safe.

"Riley! Here. I found an opening."

I followed my wife, having to keep her safe. I fired at a couple of demons trying to stop us, and joined her.

We went inside and wanted to keep demons from following us, because we didn't want to be bothered by anything but what was below us. Sam, ever thinking, grabbed some pipe and lodged it into the door opening, so that nobody could follow us.

"We should make sure every window or door is secure, before we head upstairs."

"There's no time for that, honey. We blocked the door, but if they want to get in and follow, they'll get in. We could spend hours trying to stop them, when we should be up on the roof, nailing every demon with bullets."

She looked at me, momentarily unsure, but eventually, she followed, and we sprinted up the stairs.

I gave him a semi-glare, then followed him up the stairs. He was right. But, eventually shooting everything is sight would get tiresome. And, we would run out of ammunition. Then, what? We sit up there until this was all over? Watching innocent people die?

We got to the roof and tried our best to barricade the door to the roof. I ran over to the edge. The demons that followed us down the street weren't there. "They're not over here." Riley was on the opposite side. I ran over to him and looked below. "Oh, they're all on this side." From this far up they looked like little ants. It was unbelievable how many demons were on the streets.

I dropped my bag and took out my sniper shotgun. I loaded it with ammo and started picking demons off. I stopped shooting when I noticed Riley staring out into the sky. I got up and stood in front of him. "Hey." I cupped his face and kissed his mouth, softly. "I'm sorry we lost Graham. If there was anything to bring him back..." I trailed off. There wasn't anything that could bring him back to us. "This will be over soon. I don't know what else to tell you, honey. I love you." I gave him a smile.

My husband hurt. In turn, it made me hurt. I wanted to reach out to him more, but I knew he was grieving. This is his way of dealing. I understood. I wished to the heavens that this battle would be over. The way it looks, it's far from over, but we're allowed to dream right?
