Natasha has been puking in the house. The new house. On the new carpet. It's been 5 times so far...the first two were from eating some small teddy bears that were used as ornamentation on gifts. She's really gotten into chewing in the last few months. We can only give her rawhides under supervision, becase she will chew them until her gums ( Read more... )

Both our pups (they were littermates, too) always loved their rawhide chewies. I'll mention the issue to C (she was going to be a vet)...so she can pick up some greenies at the pet store. We were going to change her food from Hill's sensitive skin back to light. Maybe the additional fats are settting her off, and she never had any problems on the light. Chunky butt could lose a few pounds anyway.

We got Kongs early on, but the dogs would never bother with them unless we put peanut butter in them. Guess they had us well trained. Sure as hell not going to do that on a new carpet.

When I was in high school we lost our shepherd to a GI problem. Near as we can figure, she at something that made her violently ill, which caused her intestines to twist or kink on themselves like a hose. She died outside, alone, during the night...we think she died pretty hard. My dad was going to take her to the vet in the morning. He loved her, and I don't think he ever forgave himself. He never got another dog. That was 20 years ago.

Could be allergies. She's always been prone to hot spots on her skin - we have special shampoos for that, and put neosporin on the spot when it gets too raw. The vet said we could give her benadryl when we needed to. Wonder if the new carpet or lingering contruction dust is triggering allergy attacks...? The house is only 2 months old.

Thanks for the good wishes.
