Black Dye Allergy Info?
This is a two-part question, and I'm really hoping someone out there can help. Let me preface this by saying that I have found that I have a fairly severe allergic reaction to black hair dye. I'm fairly sure it's the chemical PPD, which is found in many two-part hair dyes. It can also be found in other things...
1) Does anyone know of a black hair dye - even a temporary one - that does not have PPD in it (besides the henna/indigo combination)? I am not sure if Manic Panic will work, and when I wrote to them they sort of dodged the question.
2) Does anyone know of a black fabric dye that does not have PPD in it? Would Rit dye work, or will that just set me up for a reaction? I have not written to any dye companies yet.
I'm hoping someone else out there has more experience with this than me and can help guide me, point me in the right direction- I don't want to wind up with problems...and yes, before I do anything to my hair I'd do a test patch - I'd be careful, checking and double-checking perhaps with the company. Same with the clothing dye.
Thank you!
