I decided to go over to
Tanomi's today, and help with the move. Not that there's much to do. I mean, we had to level some land, which didn't take long at all, when you got energy on your side. And now it's mostly unpacking and washing stuff. I've been taking to Tanomi about some of his furniture. Most of it isn't bad, but some of it, well, it's not going to last. I think I can make some better stuff for him.
I also think I've become one of those fool old men with a hobby, that keeps trying to push it on folks. Well, it could be worse. At least the stuff I make is good. Now if I made ceramic statues of little kids with big eyes, holding puppies and kittens, that would be another matter. At least I haven't gotten to that point yet. If I do, someone please come and shoot me, okay?
I don't really get why Tanomi wants to put his house here. A sorrier piece of land, you'd be hard-pressed to find, but when a man's got his reasons, you just don't question them. And he's not a stupid man, so he's got to realize this place ain't desirable, so there must be something else about the place, and I'll take it for that.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Mikomi too. She's what we'd call a live wire, I guess. Friendly kid. I'd say she was bubbly, but that word doesn't quite fit her. Bubbly implies that she speaks a blue streak, which she does, but doesn't really say much. This kid talks sense. She asks lots of questions, but they aren't bad questions. Maybe a bit blunt at times, but you can tell she's asking them to know the answers, not just to fill up the air with useless chatter.
She reminds me of her grandparents. She speaks her mind and if you don't like it, that's too bad. I've always admired that attitude in folks. I'm betting though, that Tanomi is going to get lots of notes from her school asking him to talk to her about her attitude. That ought to be interesting.
Good crowd turned up here. Lot more people than we needed, but he's promising pizza and I think folks were curious to meet him.
Sonya thought about coming, but at the last minute, we agreed it might be best for her to stay home with the kids. I might see if she wants to come over later, when we're having pizza though. Do her good to get out and give the kittens a chance to be shown off.
Well, I'd better surrender this laptop. I borrowed it from
BJ anyway, and it looks like someone else might want to use it. And, I've got some more unpacking to do.
