So, I'm now back from NYC, NY. It was intense. I love visiting big cities. One of the greatest feelings in the world is to know that it is impossible to get lost - YAY GRIDED STREETS!!!!! 50th and 8th? Easy enough, go past 49th and 7th! Ahhh.... But anyway, it's time to dole out the General Awards to the four plays I saw. I'll also give the music style.
Hairspray - Most Colorful - 60's Pop
Dracula - Most Powerful (In both music and technical theater) - LARGE Orchestra
Wonderful Town - Best Dancing - Ragtime/Jazz Orchestra
Cookin' - Most Spastic and Fun(ny) - Surprise Percussion (Korean)
That's the list. A special add-on to that, if anyone goes to NY soon, GO SEE DRACULA! I know the critics bash it, and actually I don't expect many people to appreciate it in the way that I do. However, if nothing else, the special effects are better than George Lucas could dream of and they're live on stage, and the music is so fast and powerful. I'm just disappointed 'cause I can tell that, like Pimpernel and Hyde, Dracula probably won't last long as it is. So see it.
