i had someone (no longer on my flist) comment to point me at a survey that "proved" that loudtwitter should never be used by anyone. the survey was on his lj, and was negatively framed, and the question was something like "i hate loudtwitter and wish it would go away", with the answer choices given along the lines of: "yes, kill it with fire" "yes, i don't see the point" "yes, but they are tolerable if they are cut" "meh" and "i can live with them". he had (wait for it...) eleven respondents, including himself, only one other of whom was anyone i read. six of the answers were some variety of yes, four were meh, and one was no.
pretty damning proof. still keeps me up at night, knowing that i am so very very wrong.
i just...feel free to hate it! go ahead! just stop framing the conversations in such negative terms that no one can disagree.
on other topics: urie. pronounced "oo-ree" or "yoo-ree"? am pondering a podfic, and want to get it right.
I don't really mind, either, as I am on twitter but don't really go there much, so anyone there who feeds to here I therefore see.
and, I have always had the whatever-you-want-whenever attitude toward what folks post in their journal. if I get tired of the whole package (or the scarcity becomes such that my personal issues kick in about having my own flocked posts out in the ether, which is my own jittery thing) I'll leave, but I like seeing the variety of what people have going on in their brains.
to pop psychoanalyze here, I hear that it's hard for folks that lj has changed so much, so many people have moved on with less frequency/substance, and what may have been a very immersive space is now just not so much anymore. I figure that I can still find the people I want to stay in touch with out there in the world, and I (again) kind of like seeing what new things people are drawn to over their years of internet-living (like your audiofic thing, which isn't my thing, but I like knowing about and seeing your time go to it is great
yeah, exactly - saying "i wish you wouldn't post loudtwitter" feels too much like "i wish you wouldn't post about x aspect of your life, or that thing you are excited about".
i am pleased that the false-causal assumption that people don't post to lj because they are using twitter has died down, at least.
yes, it is really because they are stalking their partner's exes on facebook!
and, for the record, I have sometimes actually gone to twitter because of someone posting one side of a conversation in their lj feed and being like 'what the hell are they talking about?'
