So I am officially done on July 13th when my summer class is over but I walked in my graduation ceremony for my Masters at St. Joseph's College. For those who may not know I am getting my Masters in 'Literacy and Cognition'. So hopefully that will make my resume look a lil better for getting my own elementary class to teach.
Graduation wasnt held on campus since its smaller. Instead it was held at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (AKA- The Coliseum, where the NY Islanders play). I had a lot of friends who didnt come to graduation but I am really glad that I went. It was really nice and I got to see some friends who I didnt even know were attending the school who were graduating with their undergrad. One in particular that I havent seen or spoken to in years! So it was really cool to catch up with her a lil bit. My friend Cassie was the undergrad valedictorian and her speech was amazing. I was really happy for her. They also had a really good brass quintet playing that I was really impressed by. As a trumpet player I liked what I heard :p Afterward my parents and I went out for a small dinner (my sis couldnt get off work unfortunately) that was quite yummy. I told them we could hold a big celebration mid summer when I am officially done with the summer courses and done with the program.
One thing that was funny is that I happen to be the ONLY guy in any of the education Masters programs. So my parents were telling me how a bunch of people sitting around them were commenting on that when I went up for my diploma. ha! Im used to being the only guy though. I spent two years in the program. and I was 1 of only like 3? 4? guys in my undergrad program at SUNY Old Westbury. But I must say that I am going to miss the girls in my program cohort. Spent two years with them and definitely had good times. But we'll stay in touch and party it up when we can get together. Already have a few parties together this summer and cannot wait.
