I have had the best freaking week ever! So I was chosen to do sound for Ramona Quimby. BTW I was super super sick when they held auditions, but I wish I could have been IN the play. Or in See How They Run. Either one. Anyways...I'm doing sound. The play is about 1 1/2 hours-2 hours maybe. I have 40 sound cues. Not really that bad. The best part is listening to the directors, designers, and tech (besides me) just yell at each other like they're full of hate! Tee-hee! Love theater! LOVE IT!! I've also been working in the tech shop as much as I possibly can. Every M/W, I get out at 2 at Downtown, drive to West, and work from 2:30-5/6-ish. T/Th I work 9-11:40, then from 1:30-2:30, then from 3:30-5/6-ish. Saturday it's all day! 9-5-ish! Okay. I say 9, but honestly...Sean and Todd and I mostly sit around from 9-10 drinking coffee and bullshitting, and then we finally get to work. Tech is amazing, and it also turns out I am really freaking good at it. Todd is the big boss. Todd sat down with me today, and here was our dialogue:
Todd: "We need to talk."
Me: "Oh shit. What did I screw up?"
Todd: "Nothing."
Me: "Okay. Good. So then what's up, boss?"
Todd: "You are great at all this stuff. Not just great, but naturally gifted, Kevin. You could half-ass your whole life, and get by perfectly fine. Better even."
Me: "Um...okay..."
Todd: "But that means that you cannot be lazy. If you work better than average at normal, than you have to work twice as hard, and revolutionize the industry."
Me: "I don't know if I could do that."
Todd: "You very well could, actually. I need you to push and do everything double time, because it's rare that I get someone like you here, and I want it all at full blast."
Me: "I can do that for ya, boss!"
Todd: "I know you can. So here's what I need..."
Then he proceeded to put me in charge of like 3 projects, and closing up the whole department. I was so excited! I love doing this soooooo much! AAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!
Acting I is awesome as well. The class is a lot of fun, and everyone in it is super amazing. We all have so much fun during warm-ups, and our partner exercises are always amazing! We're practicing our first monologues now, and I am super nervous! I wanted to do a piece full of energy, then I decided to go sort of "Opposite-Me" and I chose a piece about a guy who has cancer, and is weak and angry. It's challenging, but that's what I love about it! Frank gives great direction, and I already feel like I'm growing as an actor.
Math sucks. The only cool part is the comics I draw during class with the girl (Ruth) who sits next to me. Hee-hee!!
Poetry is pretty cool. It's nice to have feedback and people to bounce ideas off of. The other people in my class are good writers, and I like their pieces for the most part. There are a few guys in the class who are kind of pretentious, but what are you going to do, right?
Besides that...I remember writing a lot of weird blogs on here over the summer, and before. I was lonely and struggling and going through a shitty time. Now I feel a lot better. Actually I feel worlds--nay--universes better! So anything that was weird, or pissed you off, or made you worry...it was all part of the process! Disregard it now! Please and thank you! A lot of that wondering and feeling I did never came to pass, so I've let it go! Being alone (but not lonely) is awesome. It really is now. Wasn't a while ago, but sooo is at this point. Okay. Awesome.
Also...I'm living with Tim and Lisa now. I love them so much. Tess, Kevin 1, and Wade are so rad too! We play video games and my room is sweet! Also...I'm getting a laptop. FREAK OUT!!!!
