CHARACTER
Name: Reno
Canon: Final Fantasy VII
Timeline: A week after Advent Children Complete's end, give or take.
First Person:
Reno, reportin' in. [ There was silence after he pressed the button to turn on his watch and lock his transmission to Rufus. He'd been trapped in this stupid city for a while now, and had gotten used to these ridiculous communicators. ]
I've made it up to th' center of the park, no problems yet..somethin's been following me though, sound about my size. I thought you said people avoided this part of the city? [ His eyes glanced around lazily as his mag-rod draped over a shoulder, tapping at it. No, ladies and gentleman, Reno isn't stupid. He's just playing the part to lure out whatever's been trailing him for the past half hour. It got annoying.
Oh! But then he heard some branches snapping, footfalls coming his way. ] Got'cha now! [ There was a sinister delight to his voice. ]
Sorry sir, gotta go! [ He only had time to cram the open communicator in his pocket, leaving it on as he parried an attack. Various sounds of a riveting struggle then ensued before the feed cut after about the third heavy thud. ]
Third Person:
"Yo, Rude! Hurry it up out there, I'm not gettin' any younger, you know.~" The ginger, always one to tease even his closest comrades, paged the Turk with the littlest hair over the Helicopter's headset to hurry him along as he gave the control panel a final sweep. But hey, he was well in his rights. He was impatient, and despite being lazy whenever the opportunity presented itself, Reno was actually a reliable and diligent worker when given orders.
This delay was not settling well with him. Burning daylight wasn't his style when the clock was ticking, especially when the hands counted down the seconds to his employer's demise. In days long past, Reno wouldn'tve cared if the President died--fuck, general disregard for human life seemed to be a requirement when enlisting in the Turks, but as it were, Rufus was the sole survivor to the ShinRa name. President ShinRa was killed by the hands of Jenova, and Lazard was a bastard son that died anyway, leaving Rufus the last of the blood-line to run the company. If he went, so did the ShinRa name, and so did Reno's job. And he loved his job, really. He took great pride in his role as a Turk, and it was more than this being all he had in his life, it was all he wanted. Reno was born for this job, born to swear fealty to ShinRa and carry out their dirty work without batting an eye or letting information slip under the worst torture. Anything else and he'd honestly die of pure, unholy boredom. This mindset was precisely why he hurried in his repairs, going through great lengths to ensure the job was done with deft, but sure hands. One wrong move and it could be their life in a heartbeat.
What made it so annoying was that this particular helicopter was supposed to be in the best state of working order since repairs on the others they had still weren't complete, but the gunshots to the hull from their trip to the Northern Crater did more damage than initially seen. Reno had spent all morning repairing the governor system with Rude after their fuel tank was refilled. But oh, when they went to turn the helicopter on and warm up the engines a few hours later? It had run empty. There was a leak. But Rude had it covered, and after a quick retort, the tank was refilled and patched, and they were ready to go.
"Now that's what I'm talkin' about.~" With a quick chuckle that came from impishly grinning lips, his head lolled to Rude as the co-pilot settled in with him. It was strange, not making a call to Tseng, not updating him on the status of their mission to the Forgotten Capital, but Reno adapted. Instead, he checked in with Rufus. Honestly, Reno had a great deal of respect for Rufus. He'd saved the Turk's asses on more than one occasion, but even so, no one would replace Veld or Tseng, a sentiment shared by Rude, but they would adapt. That's why they were the elite, why they were Turks to begin with. Nothing stopped them.
"Sir, repairs 're complete and we're headin' up to the Forgotten Capital now." With confirmation, and once the propellers were up to speed, there was lift-off. Once they were in the air, Reno took it easy. But despite how easily he reclined in his pilot's seat with his devil-may-care attitude, Rude could tell how much of a kick Reno got when taking to the skies.
