Hello! I am back from my trip out west with the Outdoor Challenge group I am in and I am very disappointed to see that no one commented in my last entry. :( Well, there wasn't much to say on that one though.
How do I start to tell you about my time in Wyoming and Utah...from the beginning of course!
Day 1 - I left to the airport with my dad (who came along on the trip for awhile) at about 4:00 AM. We both didn't get any sleep despite the fact we had a long day of traveling. When we arrive to the airport and met everyone, we all left to Minnesota where Aaron (a member of ODC) lost his wallet. This contained his ID and money though, he managed to have a good trip afterwords. After lunch I went to Utah and camped at a site outside of Salt Lake City.
Day 2 - I woke up, packed up, and left to the next campsite by car. It was a fairly long trip from our site to the one at The Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming) but I didn't seem that way since my dad, Jordan, and I were jamming to Led Zepplin, Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath, and alittle bit of Nirvana (greatness). When we got there, we made camp and rested the rest of the day.
Day 3 - Our first day of hiking! We went to a part in The Grand Teton NP and climbed up too Inspiration Point. All seemed nice and pleasant until Matt (ODC member) stopped while he was hiking due to intense adombinal pain. He was feeling bad all day and the strongest members (which of course did not include me) had to carry him out. It turned out that he had appendicitis and was rushed out by an ambulance.
Day 4 - We all woke up and hiked in that rain that day. The group gets word that Matt did go through surgery and he is recovering quite well. Though, chances were that he wasn't going to come back and camp with us. The group signed a "get well soon" card for him without knowing how soon he would get well...
Day 5 - Another hike, nothing special. Though, is going to be released soon and decides to go back to camp after his father flys out to the hospital.
Day 6 - Matt returns! I didn't believe it until I saw him! It took Jordan months to recover from his appendicitis! Well, I guess I underestimated him.
Day 7 - Everyone packed up into the van and head off to Yellow Stone. While we where there, we walked up a one mile trail (which Matt completed), saw Old Faithful, and a whole bunch of other geysers. I don't see what the big deal is about geysers though, they are not that pretty. I also picked up a few things for my family.
Speaking of family, my dad left to go back home that day. He couldn't spend the rest of the trip with me due to work. I really hated that fact he had to go and so did a lot of other people (he is a very popular advisor). I am was glad I atleast had the opprotunity to go out west with him. As long as I could grasp the concept that my father left to go out west for one week every year to go hunting, I was always wondered where he went and wanted to tag along. This trip kinda filled that curousity I had.
Day 8 - White water rafting day! The whole group went down to a place where there were guided rafting tours. Of course Matt couldn't participate in it but, he did go fishing atleast. Later on that day we went out for pizza and I tired to see if my dad made it back home safely but, no one was home.
Day 9 - Time to pack again and leave to Antelope Island just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. In a matter of fact, the island was in The Great Salt Lake. As I soon learned, there is absolutely NOTHING "Great" about The Great Salt Lake. It smelled horrible, it was full off sea monkeys called "brine shrimp" (the only thing that can live in the water), it had flies hovering above it, and worst of all...it was a desert island! The only neat thing about it is, you can effortlessly float on that water (which I have experienced).
Day 10 - We leave the salt lake in search of a fresh water lake and we found, was amazing! The beach was near empty and the water served as a great escape from the sun's heat. We didn't even have to make lunch ourselves! Our advisors bought hot dogs for everyone. Yes...it was a good day.
Day 11 - Water park day! And you wouldn't believe how rad it was! Get this, FREE POP! You didn't have to pay a penny for pop, it was so great. The slides there were ok but, the stairs to them were poorly maintained and was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Also, young lady caught my eye. She was a brunette that wore striped socks, black shorts, a grey shirt, and the snow white skin (melts).
Speaking of skin tone, I tanned believe it or not. I tanned to the point I actually look Hungarian for once, it is kinda weird to me.
Day 12 - Time to go home. Just hopped onto a couple planes and met my parents at baggage claim.
And that is it. Of course there are quite a few details I left out but, you get the basic idea and I bet the next time I met any of you, I will tell you all about it if you ask.
Man is is great to be back!

See ya',
