oh yes, instead of writing here i updated my bust profile. personals.bust.com, and my name is genderrevolt, of course.
i made dinner for our best friend family tonite.
salad:
greens and sliced strawberries, the frozen kind cos they are cheaper. for dressing, i combined lime juice, rice vinegar, soy sauce, fresh ginger and garlic, a splash of sesame oil, onion flakes (like from a spice bottle) and sugar.
appetizer:
sushi--a sheet of nori with rice with a TINY BIT of rice vinegar and sugar, and then in the middle leave a little ridge where you can put julienned veggies. i used avocado and carrot. then roll it up.
main course:
peanut noodles--first, i sauteed onions and tofu in a little bit, then added carrots once the tofu browned. then i added a can of "stirfry veggies", coconut milk (a tiny bit once the oil burned off mostly), and snowpeas.
i made rice noodles (maifun).
for the sauce, i combined hot water and peanut butter till it got to a nice consistency. i added coconut milk, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and tasted it. then, i added coconut milk, ginger (fresh and powdered), garlic, and finely chopped fresh cilantro, and a splash of sesame oil. then i fucked with the proportions till it tasted how i wanted it to.
i mixed everything up.
then, i put bean sprouts, cilantro, and green onions on top.
dessert:
i made sticky rice with a bit of cinnamon and sugar in a shallow cake pan--like if you were making round brownies. i used the kind of pan that had that thing that you slide around the bottom and edges to loosen it. as the rice was cooking, it formed to the pan--i just covered it with a pot lid so that the steam would not escape, rather than making it in a pot then transferring. it helps it to keep its shape. then, i pureed in the blender fresh mango, lime juice (so i juiced 2 limes and wanted to use them all, hence the obsession with lime juice in this meal) and a bit of sugar. i sliced the rice into pie slices and poured the puree onto it. it was SO amazing and sweet but not too heavy.
so dinner was so successful. i want to be a chef.
