Valentine's Event!

Jan 26, 2012 07:23

It's approaching Valentine's Day, and you all know what that means!

Those that answered, "time for our first community event" get a cookie :D

Today, January 26th, flyers went up all over Tokyo (and invitations were received) for a Valentine's Day semi-formal dance. Tickets will cost 1500 Yen (about 15 USD), and all proceeds will go to the Tokyo Children's Hospital.

This dance was organized by the heads of various school districts around the prefecture, and, as a show of goodwill, invitations to the event were sent out to numerous schools around the country. All of the schools in this community were among those invited. After all, the more money they can raise, the better. The idea of some 15-year-old students halfway across the country coming all the way to Tokyo just to dance may or may not have been thought about.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 11th in the form of an open thread. Those that participate in the log may, of course, count it toward their monthly activity. You are also free to take things to private logs (of course). The entry will remain open for a whole week (Feb 11th - Feb 17th) to give people time to participate. In actuality, the dance will run from 6pm until 11pm.

Refreshments will be served (drinks, finger sandwiches, and the like) free of charge, but there will also be a small dining area for those who want to buy a full meal.

In addition, there will be a "Valentine courier" service. Participants in the dance may buy Valentines to have sent to other dancers (choices are: single piece of chocolate for 50 Yen, a small wrapped box of 4 chocolates for 200 Yen, or a single rose for 300 Yen). People dressed as Cupid will be delivering them throughout the night. The Valentines are anonymous by default, though that doesn't have to stop anyone from revealing that they sent one.
