Perhaps this graphical representation can further illustrate the highs and lows of certain aspects of my life throughout 2006 referenced in my last post. Granted, it's more of an intuitive/qualitative approach, but you get the general idea of the characteristic trends.

January shows me somewhat satisfied with most aspects of my life and not sure what to expect in the future. Toward the end of January, I drove to NH (primarily for the free hotel stay) to interview for the engineering career I now have.

In February, I celebrated my birthday and bought my 2003 Chevy Malibu after trading in my 1998 Dodge Stratus.

In March, I received the job offer for my current engineering career. I planned to submit a 2-week's notice soon thereafter for my job at Sears, but didn't tell anyone about the offer.

In April, Sears screwed me over in terms of hours and treatment. After having generated far more credit card applications than anyone else in the district and weeks of 40 hours, they dropped me to 23 hours permanently. I demanded change: either back to 40 hours or transfer me to a different department with higher pay. They put me in electronics (base pay plus commission). Frustrated with Sears (and knowing I have a better job waiting for me), I gave my 2-week's notice 2 weeks early.

May. This is the big one. My 2-week's notice expired just in time for me to plan a trip to Manray's huge B&D Ball and to view apartments in NH as well. I stayed in Boston the entire weekend and met some incredible people, one of whom showed a strong interest in dating me. I planned another apartment viewing later in the month and signed a lease for the amazing place I have now toward the end of May.

A summer of movies, amazing love and wonderful times with many new friends during which my happiness and quality of life are enhanced by my financial standing (massive paychecks from my new rewarding career, first debit card, expensive purchases) and my love life.

Toward the end of the year, things are going much better and the source of the major final jump in my happiness is primarily from the drastic increase in my quality of life (Christmas gifts and other technology for my apartment) and my promotion at work.

The green line illustrates my financial savings. Worth noting are that data points for this set are taken directly from my detailed financial record (the continuance of which, was my 05/06 New Years Resolution). Not entirely surprising is its direct relationship to my job/career status and effect upon my quality of life.

As stated in my previous posting, this year brought more diverse highs and lows than ever experienced for me. It was a very interesting year, one from which I came out much more mentally strong.

Key events I'm looking forward to in 2007 include: doing well at work, turning 25 (this is actually a big one for me for reasons I'll discuss later), starting graduate school at UNH, volunteering more (related to my 3rd New Years resolution), initating the book I've planned to write (regarding gender exploration), paying off my Malibu (within the first few weeks more than likely), investing for retirement (yeah, I know), and taking more paid vacations (this week is my first paid vacation ever). These aren't resolutions since they are mostly inevitable occurrances.

New Years 2006 was enjoyable. I went to STYXX nightclub in Portland, which was both my first time going out to a club for a New Years celebration and my first time at STYXX. It was also my first midnight kiss to ring in the new year. I had a good time.
