I won't lie. Right now, I could use a nap, and a big sandwich. I would take the nap with the sandwich. But we wouldn't spoon. Spoon is for icecream, not sandwich.
Right now, I've got a vague hurt in my ear. I haven't the foggiest why. I presume if I ignore it, it will go away. Also on the medical front, I've started taking Claritin (
Loratadine), since I'm allergic to something new at work. Breathing is keen. I'm still a bit congested though, and the only thing that works as a decongestant is
Oxymetazoline. It works great when I use it, but it has a nasty re-bound effect, which means I can only use it sporadically.
In other news, I've been growing my hair out. I figure I've had short hair since I was 13, so I should give hippy hair a try. Thus far, it is 1.75 inches long (estimated). I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, once it's longer. I've discovered that I have frizzy hair. I did not know this. I think I have it as long as I had it for my brother's wedding, but without the stupid goatee.
Work is workish. Things are bad, except when they're good, and good except when they're bad. We've got one paper stuck in co-author hell, and another that's started to get written. I'm looking forward to the summer so I can go poke bears (if I make that work out). It's 3 months until my boss returns, which means I'm about at the half-way point.
Oh, and I'm thinking of building another boat. By thinking, I mean actively getting stuff to do so. I need some 2x6s to make a strongback, still, but I have the lag bolts and the screws ready. I think I won't use cedar this time, since cedar is too error prone (and really hurt my weight distribution with all the hardware to reinforce it!). I'm looking more at a hardwood.
Oh, and I went to a curling tournament. I used to watch the Tournament of Hearts back in Michigan, on the CBC. Yes, I know that's a very red-neck thing to admit to. Anyhow, I'm half tempted to try and join the curling club. They have nice digs, and I liked the people. And the beer is cheap! But for as much curling watching as I've done, I don't know how to play at all. One other thing I've thought about is trying to join an amateur league for hockey, if I can find one in Fairbanks. I'm not great at hockey, but what I lack in ability I make up in enthusiasm (Basically, I'm saying I suck, but I suck energetically!)
Oh, and I've been drinking red wine for my health. This is unrelated to hobbies, but I add it here at the end as it only just occurred to me. I'm still not terribly fond of wine, but a sled-neck friend of mine who used to live on a winery gave me a few pointers, and I found something called a "Shiraz Grenache" that I can stand. I'm not sure the extra decade of life expectancy is worth it, if I have to drink wine the entire time to get it! Yuck.
