It is important to note that only recently have lasers been used for wartime applications. It wasn’t until World War II, nearly two hundred and fifty years after the first record of laser use, that the first wartime laser was deployed. Dubbed the Black Fedora, it was used by Allied forces to superheat the helmets of enemies in trench warfare. It saw limited use.
