I'm housesitting for a week -- closer to a week and a half, really, but for the first few days I was splitting my time between home and here, because I was the only one caring for our house and dogs as well. But now my parents are home, and my brother Ben is visiting too, and so I can let other people walk the dogs and clean up after the puppy's messes. Mwahaha.
I seem to have been upgraded from Strange Human to Tolerable Human by the cats I'm watching. This means Bronx sleeps on the sofa next to me when I'm on the internet, which I am all in favor of. He is large and fuzzy and, like all cats, astonishingly cute when asleep. (Speaking of the internet:
silveraspen is a GODDESS AMONG WOMEN, because she helped me get my brother's laptop to talk to the internet connection here. I'm borrowing said laptop while my brother is off being a camp counselor for the summer, because my computer's a desktop; the laptop is, however, a Mac, and I have no clue what I'm doing with it when it comes to anything complicated. But Aspen is love, and saved me from having to use the sloooooooooooooooow desktop here which is equipped with only IE, no AIM, and so far as I can tell a CPU made of crystalized January molasses.) Laptops really are immensely convenient, even if the keyboards kind of annoy me. I've been toying with the idea of getting myself one, since finances are being convenient right now. My computer is 6 years old, and showing it in some respects, though it's still working perfectly well.
I got a package today!
wyrm_of_books returned the Buffy s1 dvds I loaned her a while back, and included a button, a fridge magnet, and some truly excellent spice cookies. I expect the cookies to last about three days, at the rate I've been eating them -- they're wafer-thin and gingery and tasty, and mine all mine. AND I got a letter from
chaos_pockets! (A card with Fox In Socks on the front. This is why I love my friends: they find blue-gloved Dr Seuss characters just for me.)
Also, it looks as if I may be moving to Boston this fall. :)
