*beams* Thank you! I had a lot of fun writing it, no matter how many times I pounded my head against the metaphorical wall of scenes. (Friend, reading the unfinished version: "This is really depressing!" Me: "...Oh yeah, I guess it is... Uh, I'm having fun?") And thanks again for your help -- I'm glad it works!

Hee! i totally get the fun of writing depressing. My favorite kind of writing, both of my own and other people's stories that I like best, pound right against that wall. By kudos and hit counts, the stories I have written that are fix-its get the most attention, but the stories I love the best, the ones I go back to read over and over because they sing to me, both of my own stories and other peoples, fix very little.
