This is really, really not the way I would have chosen to get a day off work.
But, for the record and for anyone who's worried, I am indeed home and safe; my housemates
thewickedlady and
sandrylene are likewise. We're planning to make waffles later, because, well, might as well, right?
I know terrible things happen every day of the week; I know other neighborhoods of my own city are no strangers to violence, and plenty of place are so used to death and terror that this wouldn't even register. But I really wish people would knock it off. Here and elsewhere both. (Other things I wish people would lay off: lots of things the media and popular speculation are inevitably doing.)
