Let nothing you dismay

I am on my way to bed, so this is not going to be a long or detailed post. (I will try to make it a coherent one.) Yuletide stories are up as of today, as many of you already know. For those of you who don't, I highly recommend taking a look. There's a lot of really, really good stuff there, and I will be making a rec post once I get through more of the giant mass of stories I have been gleefully working away at all day.

But first -- oh, man, you guys. First I must squeal happily at you all about my stories.

That's to say the stories that were written for me, of course, not the one(s) I wrote. That won't go public for days yet. But these -- thank you, thank you, o mysterious authors!

The first one is A Basis For Comparison. The canon is Marvel's New Mutants, and it's lovely. Seriously. You don't even really need to know canon to appreciate it; all you have to know is that Doug is a mutant whose power is speaking and understanding any language there is, and Warlock is an alien (a "techno-organic lifeform," or a sort of shapeshifting collection of metal and wires) who hangs out with the mutant kids, and they're friends. Go read.

The second is A Handful Of Things, about Charles DeLint's animal people, and it's what they call a Yuletide Treat -- a short extra story someone got inspired to write at the last minute. It's based on this post of mine, and it's joyful and delightful.

In other news, I have had a wonderful Christmas, full of family and leisure and fun. There were presents all around, there was figgy pudding (on fire! Deliberately!), there were movies and board games and cinnamon rolls and wrapping paper and last-minute shopping and wandering town, and I am in denial about the need to drive back to Boston tomorrow (even though it'll be nice to see Sandry and my poor abandoned cat) and definitely in denial about the need to go back to work on Thursday. I hope all of you who celebrate Christmas had just as good a holiday, and that all of you who don't have had a marvelous weekend and week. Peace and joy and love to you all.
