Last night, like most Thursdays, I went from work to the Chaplain's Table. This is a group that meets every Thursday at one of the dining halls on campus; I went frequently when I was an undergrad, and I do again now that I'm back and working here. The university chaplaincy sponsors it, and it's open to anybody who feels like coming. The idea is that everybody gets in free for dinner at the dining hall (which is perhaps why the small group of regulars contains a significant percentage of traditionally broke grad students) and then we sit around in our little conference room while a speaker talks for a bit, and then we all discuss it with him/her and each other. It's very low-key, and fun. The speakers are generally interesting, and from all walks of life, and it's less a lecture series than a free-form discussion group.

And this week's speaker was talking about Sufism, so I was especially interested. Oh, I have missed hearing Arabic. I need to find some way to study it again. (And visit the Middle East again. Anybody feel like subsidizing me?)

And then I came home and fell asleep pretty much immediately.

Um.

Madb, Aspen, Lynne, Willie (HK-mun), and anyone else I was going to thread with last night -- sorry! Mea culpa. Aspen and Lynne, I'll be around tonight if you like, and Madb, next time? Or whatever works for you. I am easy, and still interested. :) Willie, I have no clue if you're even reading this, but if you are, I'll be on IM tonight and we can work out how to go about this.

Meanwhile, back to work for me. La.
