Icons!

Jan 01, 2007 05:41

As some of you know, I acquired Photoshop some time ago.

If you know this, you also know that I have been finding it really really fun. Particularly for making icons; they're useful, and they're the right size to suit both my tendency to be detail-oriented and my general inability to follow through on big projects.

So I've been amassing them, because I go wandering Getty for icon fodder when I'm bored. And thus, an icon post. (It took forever for me to get around to this, as I am lazy. Hence: lots.)

Comment and credit if you use them, don't hotlink (if only because I'll probably take them off my LJ gallery eventually) or claim them as your own, all the usual rules. Feel free to modify any of them, although let me know if you do; I won't be bothered if not, but I am curious. Some are texty, some are not; I have plain bases for all the ones with text, whether or not I bothered to upload them.

Some of these are gifts for people; those ones are shareable if the recipient says so. (It's a slightly random list of people who get icons, because I mostly just saw pictures that reminded me of someone. If you're feeling left out, it's because I don't love you I cheerfully take requests, because they let me feel virtuous when I'm procrastinating with Photoshop.)

Gifts:

For rymenhild and/or gramarye1971.

For bookelfe.

For silveraspen.

For batyatoon.

For jezrana.

For jezrana, chaos_pockets, alemara, and/or any other Milliways Narnia-folk. (I have spent too long pasting in urls to list you all; I would inevitably forget someone.)

For wickedtrue.

The text on rymenhild and gramarye1971's is from Over Sea, Under Stone by Susan Cooper, and the base image is by jiatra, if you like being complete in your crediting; I don't believe jiatra cares, but I pass the word on anyway. Likewise, the base image on bookelfe's is by enriana. The text on silveraspen's is slightly modified from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. batyatoon's is from "Rapunzel" by Talis Kimberly. jezrana's was originally an icon by crymeariver_, which I abused until James D'Arcy was tolerably blond and green-coated. The second and third Narnian ones were made from bases by jiatra, also. wickedtrue's text ones are quote from Lord Byron and Martha Graham respectively.

The Latin on 34 means "Everything changes; nothing is forgotten." The text on 39 and 40 is from "The Lighthouse's Tale" by Nickel Creek, and 41 is from Shakespeare's "The Tempest." 42 is from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. 43 is from the song "Lonesome Road"; I've heard several versions, and I'm not sure which is the original. 44 is from "Fragmentary Blue" by Robert Frost. The base for 36 is by jiatra.
