sorry, i have not made an entry in a while... bust with charley school games holidays friends etc.
charley was a pain in the butt. at 6 am my father woke me up and said we had to go now to get sand bags. we left awhile later and drove around town for half an hour since mom gave us the wrong directions to the fire station. we finnaly got to the station and only 2 other people were filling bags. it was just a lump of sand with strong bag. we filled 20 bags which was the limit... the dang bags weighed 50 lbs each at least and i thought i dislocated my shoulders.
once we got home we park in the driveway and brought the wheel barrel around and took the bags around to the back. since the bags weighed like 50 billion pounds and there was no sidewalk to the back and the grass was extra thick, we could only have 2 bags a trip, and even that was difficult to do. if yo can do math then you will relise it took 10 trips, in the cold rain and wind. it sucked.
about an hour later we were still tracking the hurricane and when the news reported the fearsom news about how it turned toward us the family left to go to some shelter at alab (i think thats how u spell it) middle. once we got there we sat in sleeping bags and did basicly nothing for 4-5 hours... it was very boring.
once we got back on the road to go home we took a road that was clear no rain and stuff... it was fairly dark at the time.
we examined the damage as we went back and the rain suddenly picked up. it was like "clear clear clear HORRIBLE", it changed in like a second. the rain was too bad to drive into so we turn around and went the other way. it took like 40-50 mins to get back home and along the way 2 trees were blocking roads and we just steered around them.
our street was covered with fallen trees limbs etc. our house had so many branches and leaves we couldnt locate our driveway easily.. our lawn and driveway was a sea of sticks and branches. several large branches were also lying around.
we went inside and Bowser greeted us happily, we couldnt take him to the shelter. our backyard was a simalar sea of green of 3 quarters of the back... the rest was a sea of water. we must have gotten like 6-8 feet knocked off of our backyard.
i imeaditly went got my rubber boots on and went out side to examine the damage. our boat was floating over our ex-flower bed and are dock was tilted. i swayed out into the water and then i got screamed at to get out so i quickly went back up... too quickly. i sliped and poked my butt on some twigs. i meant it when i said charley was a pain in the butt!
it took 5 long hot days to clean up and we got power back 8 days later, overall we did ok.
and now comes frances.. 2 weeks later. out trash (branches limbs) is still up front. frances is like a 3 now. i wish everyone good luck with frances.
over and out, general mac
