Sometimes, he wondered if he was on the right path. As Captain, he had to make decisions he'd rather not, decisions over whose repercussions he secretly worried. Quite often, Jack contemplated what his life might have been like if either of his parents had cared about him or been God-fearing people. Jack did fear and respect God, despite his parents. He saw His handiwork in the golden sun every morning and the sparkling, silver stars each night. Those were also the times when, as he caressed the Pearl's wheel, the world-weary Pirate most knew he was right where he belonged.
