The Barber of Seville and Erev Rosh Hashana...

Sep 15, 2004 22:28

The shechechayanu is a prayer that is basically "we're happy everyone is safe, healthy, and here" Today I heard a 7 minute version of a 30 second prayer sung to the tune from The Barber of Seville, and they were off key. All I could think of was when Jeremy points out people singing off key. My mom, dad, and I, along with the whole congregation were laughing. That was quite amusing.

I GOT GLASSES! and they are cute, if I do say so myself. I also got prescription sunglasses... I can see. My eye sight is worse. My prescription used to be -.25... yeah, we're up to -.75. Oh well. Reading in the dark and sewing in bad light has caught up to me... oh, speaking of which I need to get a sewing project to bring back to school with me.

Walked around the mall while I was waiting for my glasses to be made at Lens Crafters. Visited the Hovan lady (she was really funny... what are you doing here? you in college!) and our Barnes and Noble opened and I had my gift cards so I got the Kill Bill Volume I soundtrack, Gavin Degraw, and this other artist they were playing the music of who I don't know, but it was really nice sounding. I didn't see any clothes or anything... although I need a few pairs of black pants for teching... I can just use my Steak and Shake ones that are ass tight... c'est la vie...they might not be anymore, who knows? I got a skirt on major sale at Ann Taylor. Black and shiny and pretty... maybe used as part of a halloween costume.

I love driving. Driving is beautiful.

Went to Trinity to pick up Dan from football. Saw Yoda. All set to judge Isidore Newman and I have to email Wysong about Haaavaaahd. My brilliant brother closed part of his football uniform in my trunk, thus breaking my trunk (we could not open it) now it's messed up. He's really pissed at me because I'm not going to Boca. It's the Trinity/Highland football game. I'm not even going to it, but he's still upset. Oh well. It's football... I'm going to his game tomorrow to cheer him on- I cannot go to a game I don't care about to video tape it... I also don't have a camcorder. He'll just have to call Brad for the results.

Rosh Hashana dinner at Aunt Gwen's was fun... Don and my Dad spouting the usual Republican crapaganda. My brother fell for it. Oh well... I argued my points and if they wish to believe Bill O'Reilly is god, then there is nothing I can do.

Services were amusing. Lots of people were suprised I came home. Then they realized I didn't go to UF like most people from our congregation, and had to evacuate. It was like being at one of the family b'nai mitzvah's. All these random old people coming up to chat. "Oh, you're Susan's oldest... I knew your grandfather... You're Larry Halperin's daughter? The last time I saw you, you were a baby..." Oiy.

Special note: Ilycia is really sick. They don't know if it is mono or what, but if everyone can just keep her in your thoughts, prayers, or whatever you believe in doing, that would be awesome. She has to get better, she's one of the toughest people I know. Emmy is staying with us for now.

I'm going to go to bed, as I have to go back to CLJ early tomorrow.

L'shana Tova!
