i guess i'm getting just slightly pissed off at the fact that no matter how hard i try or whatever i do everyone else seems to be given the opportunity to do what i want to do...
i mean sure its great - take my sister for example if you will - she never bothered about the 'music business' and always took the piss out of me for doing a music and media management course - but now she has been asked to front the promotion side of an expanding local record label - meaning she does all the promotional stuff, tour schedules, press releases and the like - she's going to apparently hit the road with the bands as a roadie AND she fancies herself as a photographer
now i dont doubt that all the stuff is good but what gets me is the fact that she doesnt do proper photography - now i dont claim to be a genius i'm only a total amatuer BUT at least i know that when doing shoots with bands you dont use autofocus or auto-settings on the camera, which she does, you have to do it manual otherwise the focus goes to pot - and as for when she goes to their gigs - umm yeah no flash right? well she uses flash - red eye much?
but whatever i'm past caring, i'm trying myself as best i can to progress for myself rather than being on a oh my friends are in a band and know this band - that can only get you so far right?
i suppose the media industry is fickle at the best of times and is basically on a who-you-know entry basis - which sucks might i add, but surely if you push for it you can get somewhere?
am i totally hopeless? i took some pictures at shows [from the crowd] and some nature ones so if you're reading this then yay - let me know what you think about it all?
