Eli continues his discovery of the world. It's amazing to see the light of intelligence and engagement in his eyes as he stares (at a rattle, a spoonful of pear, the little chair he sits in in his bath). And then he'll give you a beautiful smile when he catches your eye. (But not early today, when he stared and stared at me for whole minutes, no matter whether I met his gaze or not.)
Especially impressive is how graceful and athletic his little muscled body looks as he stands, holding his fence or one of the plastic Ikea toy boxes. The latter will typically start falling over when he holds them--as they're not heavy--but he skilfully rides this down to the ground, or even to an intermediate position from which he can renegotiate his position. Wow.
