Lately I've been obsessed with perfumes. I think it's because I can't get a tattoo, so I have been projecting my "gotta get a new one" urges onto perfumes (of all things). I have one perfume that I'm very happy with as a summer fragrance, and that's "LAMB fragrance" by Gwen Stefani (please don't laugh, I even wore it on my wedding day!). On a warm day it smells lovely and I can really smell the frangipani and rose notes, but in winter my skin doesn't warm up enough and I all I can smell are the citrusy top notes and the pear note, which smells too soapy to me.
Perfumes I've worn in winter include Avon Night Magic (which is relatively inexpensive and it's a deep sensual floral musky scent) and Kate Moss Vintage (which is also nice and musky and has a tonka bean note which I quite like). Sadly I'm pretty bored with these, and I don't agree with Ms. Moss's assertion that "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" (stupid skank). This year I decided I wanted to try a perfume with a patchouli note for winter (I absolutely adore patchouli and always have). The first one I tried was Lady Million by Paco Rabanne. I had smelled it on a friend and asked her what she was wearing because it smelled lovely on her. I tried on the tester at work one morning and wore it around all day. By the end of the day I decided that the honeyed amber note was a bit too overpowering for my liking, although it does also have a floral smell that I quite liked when I got a whiff of it.
So I took to the internet and read reviews of perfumes that have a patchouli note. I came across a glowing review of Angel by Theirry Mugler at "now smell this" (
http://www.nstperfume.com/). With the "gourmand" notes (including chocolate, caramel, fairy floss, red berries, honey and vanilla) combined with the earthy patchouli note (as opposed to the "cleaner" patchouli smells commonly found in more modern perfumes) it sounded great. They had it on special at Priceline for $69, so I asked my manager at work to price match it for me and she agreed! So I bought a perfume for $69 without trying it on based on a review I read on the internet (as I already said, I am obsessed). Luckily I adore it, and I even got a compliment for wearing it at the fish & chips shop the night I gorged myself on beer battered chippies (which did taste better than skinny feels... up yours Kate Moss).
So there you have it, an entire blog post about perfumes! I'm just glad I blogged at all, and so should you be. ;P
