I haven't made any resolutions. I just tend to break them and get annoyed at my apparent lack of will power.
We had a mad Christmas - my dad's mum and her husband (family situation slightly complicated on this side- best to just nod and smile) came to stay over the holidays. Grandma insisted on coming to Chicksands to walk the dog with us, promptly fell over and broke her ankle. Denying its urgency she insisted it was only a sprain and spent another two days at our house, refusing to go to the Lister, before returning home to an appointment with 'her' doctor. Having established it was broken they put it in plaster and told her to come back in 2 days. To cut a long story short they operated as it was displaced as well as broken (could it have been from scrambling back up the hill on it I wonder) and she is still in hospital. Mad. Our whole family are quite mad.
Universities, hmm. I see little evidence of them fighting over me. Very little. Mental note not to believe what too many nice people say. Having said that, its not all bad. Here is the present situation:
York offered ABB
Nottingham offered ABB
Bath offered AABB
Cambridge rejected my application.
Durham are still considering.
I think I'll probably accept York as my firm offer, but I am going to visit Nottingham soon and I might change my mind. I can't remember if I told you about Cambridge before, thought I did so I'll spare you the explanation unless you're interested. Suffice it to say I'm not willing to stick around another year to see if they might take me next year.
Did you see ER last Thursday? One word - yuk. His arm being...er well yeah. It wasn't nice. I won't say anymore in case you still haven't seen it.
More comic perhaps is the challenge of our baked bean contest, where every Friday we must meet and cook beans on toast with assorted variations. We have had so far original style, with marmite, with grated cheese and chinese 5 spices and soy sauce. Mmm. Sounds appetising.
