Brief Interlude: Politics Edition

One of the many perks at work
involves attending two live debates
(one State Senate,
one State Congressional District)
with my boss
who is the sort of lady
who Senators recognize and want to pull aside for a little private chat.

I also got tickets for a medium-sized booking conference next week.

I love a conference.

I really, really do.

There is just something about a bunch of people
all nerding out together about the same thing
with the purpose of meeting/networking/learning?
This is my mana.

But one that is seeing stacks of live entertainers all day?
Yes.
Please.
Thank you.

Not long ago I started dreaming of building a booking conference,
after a bunch of research into their industry position as a connection server.

I also called a person I got featured awhile back,
check in on his documentary progress.
They rejected Discovery Channel's offer.
He is still working on the documentary
(about the first all-Black Army airbone regiment
the 555th airborne)
but currently focused since the summer
building up a national meetup
for outdoorsy BIPOC folk like himself to introduce them to our city
(who's outdoorsy motto is Near Nature, Near Perfect)

He invited me to their first big meeting
taking place right here in town
with a salmon dinner kick-off
and a dozen guys coming in from all over the country
to go flyfishing together.

I was JUST in a meeting with my City's Chamber of Commerce
and they were asking us (me!) for advice how to organize more community events
where people come from out of town to visit AND stay overnight
(my job is so fun and strange sometimes!)

I told them I'd think on it.

Maybe, I should suggest investing in supporting outdoorsy BIPOC meetups.
They could certainly do worse!

I'm glad to be back at work,
in the swing of things...
thinking about my teeth
and my pain
and the bills...

...less and less...

politics, work, jobs, fun
