I felt pretty confident about my "eye" for framing and finding a good photo... but on my old camera, I could hand focus and zoom which was nice... but my only setting I regularly played with was my exposure. Now that I work it all my major settings and can tune in to the environment settings much better the good photos are coming out amazing.
Working in the studio under this very hot/bright colored lights, with a fog machine and everyone moving... it took me probably two years to find the settings that work best because you don't REALLY know what you have until you process them.
I wonder what to do with my photos since I don't post them anywhere, either. I totally get Brad's vibe! I stopped all my other social media in 2016 and I think it's why I'm a big calmer than the average bear right now! I already print my photos and display them around the house but... it would be nice to share them maybe through a personal website, I think.
Love to hear what you and Brad are up to. Having a little more time to play rather than so much healing and decompressing from work, I hope!
Sharing on a personal website would be so nice! Especially if photos include friends and they want a visual to help reminisce. I think the heart of Instagram was that wayy, wayyyy back when (a less busy version of Facebook, a more cohesive version of Imgur). I still use Instagram as an electronic photo album and truly enjoy that VERY SMALL PART of it. Everything else is loud and annoying. On the rare occasion my sister posts something, I have something to actually look at. And there are some LJ girls who post, etc. Anyway, digressing. It's nice to "flip back" without the actual photo album in my hands (not that I'm opposed of that! I love going through old photo albums while visiting my parents). I'd love to see your photos!
I've been meaning to update. There hasn't been anything I felt like typing out. Not that the day to day is boring, I'm just busy doing the day to day. Recreationally, I spend ~2 hours on the weekend on my laptop. Then I'm off doing things. Or during the week, it's literally 30 min before I leave for work (like now!). But!! That being said. I have photos to share and the story of a podcast I'm trying to get my family to be interviewed on (more to come on that). Also, 2024 work is going to be far busier than 2023 work, but not as insane as Campbell's procurement, and I feel this is a great middle ground.
Livejournal is the extent of my "social media". I probably spend as much time texting friends directly a week as I do online reading/posting.
I've always known that if any "new" social site could catch me, Instagram was definitely my style, but once they started allowing in video and sound I was like, "Oh, nevermind... I know where this is going."
I used to keep a personal website back in my teens and I think I just need to do that for myself as an adult, especially since I don't use LinkedIn or Facebook or other places.
2024 is already revving up to be a very busy year for everyone I know. It sounds like your definitely have news!
