It's time to celebrate

Thank you. Dear lord in heaven, thank you. It finally happened.

A protest. On this campus. That actually had a point. And they even made it well.

A bit fanatically for my taste, but well.

So, quick background here. Two weeks or so ago, the Student Government Association, which is only a few cards short of completely useless, entertained a bill to open Homecoming Court nominations to same-sex couples. I don't really know what the arguments against this bill were per say, but to make a long story short, the SGA killed the bill - 5 for, 10 against, 8 abstaining.

And then the protest happened. And oh dear god, it was epic.

These groups on campus, including the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, the GLBTQ Solidarity and (those self-righteous bastards) the International Socialist Organization, rallied outside about 30 minutes before the show was called to order. Then they stormed the meet and adressed the SGA demanding that either the bill be reintroduce and passed or they'll get the petitions done to remove the 18 who didn't vote for the resolution from their positions.

Now, I still think the ISO is full of shit and I don't agree that the ones who abstained should be removed as well, but damn if I can't help feeling awsome about these guys.

I mean, they even scared the SGA to the point that they passed an emergency bill to make it harder for senators to be removed from their positions. So not only did they make their point well, but they got the opposition to make themselves look like assholes in the process.

In other words: total win.

Now, if only they could extend that good sense into the rest of their 'events'...

real life
