Tonight I saw the triumph of the human spirit. Ok, yeah, total overstatement. I did, however, see
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters at the Nuart theater.
Let me back up. This is a documentary about a rivalry between the two best Arcade Donkey Kong players in the country. You've already stopped reading, haven't you? I know. I am with you in principle. The Boy dragged me to see it--I was voting for Superbad. But in we went, with--literally--the nerds of the world to see this movie. I was, to say the least, skeptical.
But it was really, really great. A fascinating and funny look into the competitive gaming world. And the movie was so great at showing how nerdy these people are. Make no mistake--these are NERDS. But as the plot developed and the rivalry explored, a hero and a villain emerged. And it was really cool to see how even I, skeptic of sketpics, was rooting for him. I even shed a tear at the end.
Anyway, I highly recommend it. It was really fun. And, random star sighting, I saw Seth Green there. Man, he is TINY. I mean, I literally wonder if he's even 5 feet tall. Yikes.
Roller skating rink tomorrow for a friend's birthday--I really can't wait. I used to be queen of the roller rink--I hope I still have it. :)
