Yesterday, my dog Yoda was put down after suffering from a lot of the pain the ailments of old age had brought her. She does not have to suffer anymore and that is the best thing. So, I do not want any sympathy but I want to hear any happy memories you have of any of the pets you've had in your life. So please, share them with me!
Of course I am sad but the best thing to do at times like these is to cherish all the memories Yoda created for us; the happy, the silly, and the sad. They are what makes the dog we will remember Yoda being.
Then again, Yoda will never ever want to be remember as a DOG of all things! She always thought she was a human and we could see that from the time we had her. She never could rationalize in her head why we would want to feed her dog food, yeesh! What a silly thing to do!
Hehe, I remember when she must have been about four and still could easily jump up onto things. Well, my brother and I had ordered pizza because my parents were gone that night. After we finished eating we, for some reason, thought we could leave the pizza out on the table and go upstairs without paying attention to what could happen to it with a clever little schnauzer roaming around. I went downstairs a little later and walked in on a certain dog standing on the table. All the pizza toppings were curiously gone. Yoda looked right into my eyes with a face that said, "uh oh, I know I'm in trouble!" She was in trouble but looking back I'm proud of her for always being so smart. Yoda always did what she wanted to do, even if she would get in trouble. Usually she followed the rules because it was the dignified thing to do for her and after the introduction of another dog, her little sister named Tippie, being the disciplined dog boosted her position in the barking order and her ego.
So, once again, share me any memories you have of loved animals in your life, good or bad and in spite of whether or not these animals are dead or alive.
