Heads Carolina, Tails California...

Yeah, so South Carolina was amazing. Some of you I need to talk to outside of LJ about some stuff, but here's the general happenings from the week.

We drove down Friday evening after we ate dinner (about 5:30). We had two vans, our van slept most of the way (Me, Hannah, DaeHee, Carl, and Trent). We stayed at a Lutheran camp in Columbia. It wasn't too bad, took 5 hours to get there, but the cabins were heated, had bigger showers than we have here and the only sucky thing was the old-ness and stained-ness of the mattresses.

Saturday we went on over to a site where we were going to be building a house for a woman named Anjennette (Anje). We built the entire floor system for her on that day. It was cool though because she was there working on it too. I can't imagine what it would be like getting to help build your own house, but it's got to be amazing.

Sunday we went over to this development of 5 houses built for Hurricane Katrina victims...and the ironic part? The houses were in a flood zone so we had to knock out some bricks and put in vents so just the basement floods. For a while I was chiseling away bricks, and then afterwards I was helping Claire cement in the vents.

Monday half of us went back to the house while other people took in shipments at the store. At the house we finished cementing, laying stuff under the houses, and we took weeds from around the driveway. Afterwards we waited for the other group in the store and slept on the couches. Heh...

Tuesday half the group was at the offices moving paint cans and playing with Toxic Waste (and mutating their future children?) while the rest of us were back at Anje's house nailing down a piece of plastic over the floor system so the rain wouldn't ruin it, moving doors and windows, and taking apart scaffolding.

Wednesday we were back at Anje's house putting up the walls and building a trench on the other street so some woman's yard would stop flooding.

Thursday we put up trusses to make the ceiling of Anji's house (I think there was a group at the store too).

Aaaand...Friday morning we came home.

Other than that there was lots of crying (good and bad), a couple injuries, a massage train, singing at night, Sparkling grape juice and cider, a bonfire, almost the entire group smoking cigars while the "asthma crew" sat against the house next door out of smoke's reach, and so much more.

It was an amazing week filled with so many new friendships and getting to know people I already knew much much better. Pictures are up on Facebook, and soon (hopefully) I'll be getting a CD with other peoples' pictures so I can get a few that I wanted really badly.

Oh, and so people might kill me for this, or drop their jaw in astonishment, but after this week and talking to some people I'm seriously contemplating going Greek in the spring or next fall. If I were to rush though it would most likely be ΑΣΑ. I'm not 100% sure, but, yeah.

I'm off to do some stuff now so, yeah. Cutting this entry short...kinda...
