Memo to Brazil - Subject: Earthquakes

Mar 17, 2011 22:13

Brazil, you're not supposed to have earthquakes, especially not TWO earthquakes on the same day in two different locations. Don't forget you also have a nuclear power plant, and it's kind of close to my city. 8D

I hope so, too. D: Earthquakes in Brazil are usually pretty weak, but exactly because they're so rare and weak, our buildings aren't made to withstand them at all. So, if we're ever unlucky enough to have an earthquake near the nuclear power plant, even if it's a very weak one... yeah, it's probably not going to be pretty. And one of the earthquakes that brought up this post happened relatively close to the area of the nuclear power plant.

I get what you mean - in case of earthquakes we'd be pretty much screwed here too, and it's not so unusual having some, as you have seen. Had we had to face anything like the one that hit Japan, there would be nothing left standing here. Nothing.

But I sure hope that at least the power plant is built so that it could take a earthquake. Though I still hope there won't be any other at all. :/

I can relate so much. It's the same with my place. Though we don't have a nuclear power plant, but the buildings would still fall and people would still die :-(

The scary thing is, we are located near a geological depression and apparently every 80 years or so we suppose to have a major earthquake. The last one was in 1927, so...
